Overview
Situated on Písek’s main square, this hotel is just 200 metres from the town’s popular Stone Bridge. It offers a restaurant and a café-bar with a winter garden. Free Wi-Fi and a small fridge are standard in all rooms at Hotel City Pisek. A hairdryer and toiletries are provided in the bathroom. Breakfast is served daily either at the hotel itself or at a partner hotel Bila Ruze, 100 m from the property. Classic Czech dishes are served at the restaurant and, in summer, guests can also enjoy grilled meat dishes and other barbecue specialities. Breakfast is buffet style at Pisek Hotel.

“Not what we booked.”
We booked 2 rooms at City Hotel, one Standard room with 2 separate beds and one a bit more pricy "Deluxe Double" for extra comfort. Upon arrival, we were brought to a different and a bit desolate hotel around the corner called Bilaruze (which we didn't book), and the 4 of us were given 1 (one) key for 1 (one) room with a shared bathroom. Despite having booked a double room with a view we had a view of a roof, which is not the end of the world, but the main issue we had was that the City Hotel overbooks its capacity on purpose and then brings people to a completely different hotel with less amenities. This is not what we booked and paid for and when we voiced our dissatisfaction the receptionist just shrugged with an unbothored "sorry" and did not offer any form of compensation not even the extra fee we paid for the "Deluxe" room. Definitely not the experience we hoped for. When we shared our experience with friends who also visited Pisek frequently we realized this is a modus operandi. They overbook and send unsuspecting guests to a different hotel. And additionally the door didn't close from the outside without a key so managing this situation for 4 people was unnecessarily annoying. The curtains didn't close or block out any sunlight either...
