- The location is the top - The view from the balcony - staff was so sweet and kind, they organize cake for my birthday - One night was not enough for me, next time will stay longer - room was great, with hot water and super comfy bed - breakfast was having many options to choose from - Shalika and Andrew was great and gave us all information we needed - Andrew took us to the elephant farm - And best server at the restaurant was Sakun

“Absolutely amazing place above the river full of bathing elephants.”

We arrived very late in the evening, but check-in was no problem, they waited for us. The rooms were clean, the water was hot, comfortable beds, a terrace and air conditioning - what more could you ask for. In the morning, an amazing buffet breakfast with a wide selection of food, coffee, tea and juices. The view from the room, or from the restaurant of elephants bathing in the river is an unforgettable experience. We stayed longer and had a swim in the pool after breakfast with a beer and a view of the elephants in the river. An absolutely amazing place above the river.

This was one of the best experiences of my life. I will go back over and over again. Kanchana who drove us there was an amazing tour guide. He and the rest of the hotel personnel made our stay unforgettable. The breakfast buffet overlooking the river and elephants bathing was a once in a life time experience. Absolutely indescribable! And fruit served was the sweetest I ever tasted.

Lovely hotel in a great location and wonderful staff. We really enjoyed seeing the elephants up close as well as from the balcony in our room. The hospitality from the hotel staff was also excellent. They really did go above and beyond what we expected of them. Special thanks to Andrew for spending so much of his time looking after us, and to Shalika for her kindness.

Amazing location, great staff and excellent value. I need to highlight special praise for “Andrew”. Once we had made our booking, Andrew contacted us to ensure a smooth arrival and stay from our reception to departure. He is an excellent ambassador for the hotel and sets a great example to those who work in the hospitality and tourism industry on how to manage your customers (visitors) and people in general. Andrew ensured we were aware of each, and all opportunities available to us whilst there. Great interpersonal skills and extremely knowledgeable. Thank you Andrew I would also like to say thank you to the lovely manager on the desk and Mohammed the waiter in the restaurant. 👍

We were a bit unsure about choosing this hotel due to mixed reviews about both the elephant well-being and the hotel itself, but we’re so glad we decided to go for it! The hotel was lovely overall. The staff were friendly, our room felt almost brand new, and it was really comfortable. We had a spacious balcony, a large bed, and a clean bathroom with a great shower - everything you’d want for a relaxing stay. There were two things that really surprised us and that no one mentioned in reviews. First, the amazing sunset experience: at dusk, thousands of bats fly out over the river in a stunning display that lasts about 15 minutes. It was such a unique and unforgettable moment for us! Second, the breakfast was fantastic. It was a huge buffet with a wide variety of options. During our two weeks in Sri Lanka, this was by far the best breakfast we had. As for the elephants, we felt they were well cared for. We chose not to ride or wash them, as we prefer to just observe them from a distance, and that approach worked really well for us. We did see a few elephants with chains, but we were told these were male elephants who tend to be more aggressive. Apparently, once they become accustomed to humans and their surroundings, they are eventually released. While we can't confirm this for sure, we really hope it's true and that the elephants are treated kindly. Overall, it was a great experience, and we're really happy with our choice.

The staff were so very helpful and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. A few additional small facilities in the room would have been nice but our stay was amazing.
