“A peaceful stop in your journey”

The hostess didn't speak English, so we had to translate everything. But you can feel her care and love everywhere. The house is clean, light and pretty. Inside there are vazes with fresh flowers and a small garden outside. You can access a walking path nearby – to see beautiful nature with lakes and a swamp. There's also a pond nearby, where you can swim - the hostess can show a place from which to swim in it.

Everything was very good. The owner is a really kind old woman. If you understand Russian or Latvian you can hear a lot of histories.

Absolutely delightful stay in the old kolkhoz headquarters. Pilskalne is as peaceful as it gets and the bulding has been lovingly renovated and kept very clean by the warm and friendly owner Lidija who was waiting for me to check in. Daughter Vita was also there to greet me and translate the interesting history of the place. The two women really made me feel at home. I had a fantastic sleep in the very comfortable bed of the Agronom room which stayed very cool even in warm weather. The hostel like building has a shared bathroom and well equipped kitchen. Upstairs Lidija has created a little museum room with interesting documents and items from the Soviet era. Outside there is a garden area with seating. Such fantastic value for money. Very clean, older but perfectly functional furniture, comfortable matresses, extremely hospitable hosts (they even gave us a bunch of homegrown apples before we left), cool temperature inside in hot weather (no AC needed), beautiful garden and surrounding nature, very calm, well equipped kitchen
