“Best place in Asia after 5 months here”

We (@gus_y_dani) stayed at this homestay during our trip around Asia, which has now been going on for five months, and honestly, it was one of the most beautiful experiences we’ve had so far. It was the first time in Asia that we felt so comfortable with a local family, almost as if we were at home. The place is run by a lovely elderly couple. The owner is very kind, open-minded, generous, and always happy to talk about anything. Every day he would bring us something: bananas, mangoes, pineapple, or some local food to try. His wife was also wonderful with us; she often cooked something and shared it with us in such a natural and kind way. Best Muslim food!! The whole family was very welcoming. They have six children, and during our stay we had the chance to meet three of them. Harry organizes tuk-tuk tours, their daughter runs a café on the same street where you can have very good coffee and delicious iced tea, and another son was also very kind to us. Soon we will also meet a fourth son, who has a restaurant in another city that we are planning to visit. It is really beautiful to see such a united, simple, and genuine family. As for the accommodation, we stayed in the wooden house upstairs and felt very comfortable. There was a good mosquito net, so we never had any problems with mosquitoes or insects at night. We opened the windows, slept with natural air, and rested very well. During the hottest months, it might be difficult to sleep with only a fan, as they also explained to us, but there is also an air-conditioned option at a reasonable price. So I recommend checking the season and choosing the room that suits you best. Overall, we highly recommend this place. We didn’t expect to feel so good here, and if we had had more time, we would have loved to stay much longer. An authentic, family-style experience full of kindness. We will carry this place in our hearts.

The whole family was great! I have stay incl. breakfast and both my days I had dinner in accommodation too and both were very delicious. The room was quit, modestly furnished but exactly what I wanted from this kind of accommodation.

This is the best homestay I’ve stayed in, in 3 months of travelling SEA. The family are some of the loveliest people I have ever met and they all go above and beyond to be hospitable. Harry, who runs the homestay is also a tuk tuk driver and offers reasonably priced tours of battambang, his english is near perfect and he’s got a wealth of information to give. Overall, I loved this place and will be back to stay when I revisit Cambodia.

Very friendly and welcoming hosts. They picked us up from the bus station when we arrived, so it's no bother at all being a little way out of town. We had a day tuk tuk tour around Battambang countryside with Sam, including the bamboo train, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Seeing the bats was the highlight of our trip so far. We had a family meal with them, which was delicious and it was really fun chatting and laughing with them (Harry and Sam speak very good English).

The family was very nice and many of them spoke good English. They offered us tea and bananas every day, supported us with a free tuk-tuk transfer from the bus station and bought bus tickets for us. It was possible to attend a family dinner (6 USD/person) and they also offered a city tour of Battambang (30 USD/day). The room was very basic, but the air conditioning worked well. Possible to rent bike and scooter as well.

The family really welcomes you into their home, giving you an immersive experience.

“Feel like home”

We had an amazing stay with Harry and his family. Harry reached us before arriving at Battambang and offered us a free TukTuk. We were starving and he drove us to his sister's coffee. We had one of the best Lok Lak in all of Cambodia! From the first moment we reached the homestay we felt like home. His parents treat us like part of the family. Offering water, fruits and always taking care of us. We also had a wonderful family dinner. Great food cooked by Harry's sister. I also recommend booking a tour with Harry. He will find the best tour for you according to your interests. He gave us a lot of information about Cambodia, history and the culture. I wish him and his family all the best. Thank you again!

I spent 3 nights at Lazy Mango Home Stay and had a wonderful time: - My private room was huge and clean, I enjoyed the privacy of it being a "little house" without taking anything from the homestay vibe. I also visited the dorm though, and it was also looking good! - Harry and his family, especially his parents, are amazing hosts. They made be feel so welcome that it was hard to leave! - I also recommend going on a tour with Harry to either go the bat caves or to discover more about the area (rice whisky farm, many plantations, etc.) I learned a lot about Cambodia thanks to him! I could go on and on but couldn't recommend it enough for a stay in Battambang!

Everything! Harry and his family are so welcoming. The beds were really comfy, food was amazing (they went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary requirements) and Harry’s Tuktuk tour was an incredible day out.

The rooms were very clean and spacious, beds were comfortable. The property was basic but had everything you needed! The best part of this stay, however, is the lovely family that run it. They take you in as their own and for a small price, you can even join their family dinner which was delicious home cooked Cambodian food. We also did the day tour with Harry, which was amazing. He was very informative, but made it a very fun day out. It was a beautiful, wholesome stay that we would recommend anyone to do. We will remember this stay forever.

Great service from start to finish. We had a message straight away offering a free pick up from the bus stop. We then had a full day tour where we visited many sites in the Battambang area and it was a great price. Invited us to dinner with their family. The best and most authentic meal we have had in Cambodia with lots of offers to share the recipes as well. They offer a cooking class which we didn't have time for on our trip. Lots of local tips and knowledge as well.

Great host family, very friendly! The tuktuk driver Harry offers great tours, I took one to the bamboo train and the caves and can recommend it a lot since everything is far apart from each other. He also knows a lot about the place. I can also recommend the food from his sister's restaurant if he offers to take you there! It's the best I had in Cambodia!

I highly recommend staying at Lazy Mango Homestay for anyone visiting Battambang. It is a real homestay where you will have the opportunity to meet a wonderful family and have all the confort you need. They will be able to help you organise cooking class, tuktuk tours, bus booking... We had dinner and breakfast with the family and felt just like home, while learning a lot about khmer real life. One of our best experiences in Cambodia!

We loved our authentic Cambodian homestay. We were welcomed and treated as family- sharing meals and stories together. You will likely get the chance to meet all three generations of the family which we really enjoyed. The food was really tasty, and we enjoyed a day tour being shown around in Harry's tuktuk and his vast local knowledge about Battambang. Thank you for looking after us during our stay!

Very lovely family who were so lovely and hospitable. They treat you like you’re a part of the family! Harry also picked us up from the bus station which was a great bonus. We also joined the tuk tuk tour that Harry offered and he was so knowledgeable about his city and everything around it. We loved his tour and would recommend to anyone who stays, it was so worth it and I felt much more immersed into the culture and the city. The breakfast at his sisters restaurant is also very delicious!
