“Cockroach in room - staff response poor”

For the first three nights, my primary complaint was the very weak water pressure. On the fourth night, I returned to the hotel to find a cockroach on the bed. I reported to the front desk, who offered me a different room. I had to inspect all of my belongings and move them to a different room between 11pm and midnight, and had to inspect the new room. I got very little sleep and had a long flight the next day. I remain paranoid I may have brought insects back in my luggage. (As proof, I have included in this review a photo of a cockroach under an Alexander Inn branded glass, on top of an Alexander Inn branded drinks coaster - I would prefer not to have to share this, but the situation was not dealt with appropriately). When I checked out the next morning, I asked to speak to management, but was told they were not present (at 11am on a Monday). I was offered a $50 partial refund off one night of my stay (I paid over $230 a night for four nights). The fact that the response to vermin in the room is a discount of less than 25% of one night suggests the hotel either do not care about cleanliness, or this happens a lot and they can't afford all the refunds. Do not stay here, it is not worth the stress. The price is low, but prioritise the peace of mind of staying somewhere clean and hygienic, which takes pest control seriously and responds appropriately and apologetically puts things right when this fails.

Comfortable room. Good location very handy for city centre. The free cheese and wine in the evening was a nice touch and a good way to meet people. Very nice staff.

All the staff I interacted with were so warm, friendly and helpful, especially Terence and Melisa, she really went above and beyond throughout the stay and is an absolute credit to the business, best customer service I’ve ever had and I also witnessed her interacting with other guests with a matched warmth and willingness to make everyone’s stay special! I would stay here again just for the staff!

“Character property in a good location”

Character property in a good location. Comfy bed, quiet location. Nice continental breakfast including fruit and yoghurt. The free social evenings were fabulous.

Location for tourists

The staff were helpful and friendly. There was complementary breakfast and afternoon social meet with wine and snacks. Totally unexpected, a nice surprise

The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood. During day time and evening, there are quite some people walking and running on the street. The room is very small the overall the hotel is very classy and unique. The front desk staff is very helpful and nice. The AC in the room is quite loud but i simply turn it off during sleep so it didn’t really bother me. There’s quite some dust on the window blinds and there’s dried traces of fluid on the wooden wall table (but again i don’t really mind).

It did the job. You get a bed and shower. Breakfast. Nothing else. Staff on the other hand are really nice and welcoming.
