“Finca Valdobar is a great place to stay if you're exploring Penafiel”

Lovely location and exceptionally well run. We were welcomed by the owner - a very gracious host- who showed us around the property. He had supplied bread, ham and cheese for breakfast and there was a full pay on departure wine fridge. All local wines. Great place. Even has its own small beach on the river.

Felix & Rosa left us a small pack of jambon and a small pack of cheese, in additon to some bread and sachets of olive oil and crushed tomatoes. This was very considerate and enabled us to have perfect light breakfasts.

Rosa and Felix were amazing hosts, all the staff was very nice and helpful. The place is very well kept and clean, the same as the water in the pools. The Finca is just a perfect place to relax and only 2 hours from the Madrid Barajas airport. The design of apartments is stunning. If you add the surrounding bodegas of the Ribera del Duero, the Peñafiel castle and Plaza del Coso, you can have a great time there. I can't wait to come back there.

We have stayed in some exceptional places around the world including the Waldorf Astoria, converted palaces in India, colonial hotels in SE Asia, Egypt and Latin America, and we both agree that, for us personally, this is on a par with them . I think it's because there are only 4 perfectly decorated and furnished and equipped apartments in a 4,000 M² plot (a conversion of an old furniture factory) and it just seems like you're staying with friends. The owner was extremely friendly and informative, as were the other guests. The Finca has 2 above ground pools and various sports areas, just outside the gates is a river beach. Very very quiet and relaxing. If they had a bar with tapas on site we probably wouldn't have left the place. 100% recommended

Super relaxed, perfect for switching off. Pools not huge but enough to cool down. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

The place is so beautiful as well as the surroundings. Ideal if you plan to stay a few days as there is so much to do inside the property and in the surrounding areas. Also, both hosts were so nice with us and so attentive to anything we needed. We highly recommend staying here!

I rarely post reviews on booking, but this place is so fantastic that it truly deserves a great rating. The location is perfect, the host was wonderful, and the facilities were spotless. The house is equipped with everything needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Our group of 4 girlfriends had an amazing time, and we’ll definitely be coming back with our families and children in the future.

great host provided us with clear instructions even though we arrived late at night. they gifted us with their own plates to take home as well as provided fresh bread and breakfast for the following morning

“Fabulous peaceful spacious place in a a great location”

A fabulous place to stay for 3 days- wished we’d stayed longer! Ideal location for a short stroll into Penafiel or up to Protos for a tasting. The place is fantastic- so peaceful and calm and delightful to sit on the back terrace in the evening sun and watch the river roll by . Or take breakfast on the front terrace in the morning sun! The apartment is soo well equipped in all aspects- such a comfortable bed and great bathroom and shower and laundry facilities also available. Loads of good towels as well. The hosts are so wonderfully kind and helpful. Check in was so easy and quick and we just loved the place and the area and would love to come back. Thank you.

Very nice touch to be left a few things in the fridge e.g. milk, juice, cold meats, plus fresh bread, butter, jams etc to sort out own breakfasts out.
