This family-run guest house is situated within a peaceful nature reserve on the banks of the Schwarze Ilz river. It stands beside the castle ruins of Hals, 7 km from central Passau. The cosy, country-style rooms of the Zur Triftsperre guarantee a relaxing break amid wonderful scenery. Enjoy hiking and fishing in the surrounding nature reserve, or walk to the Reschenstein Castle. Guests can enjoy Bavarian and international dishes in the hotel restaurant, on the terrace or in the attractive beer garden. A playground is available for younger guests. Free wireless internet access is available in the hotel’s public areas. The Zur Triftsperre is an ideal base for day trips to Passau, the Bavarian Forest, Austria and the Czech Republic.

“Relax”
I like the location. It's very good for hiking and biking, as well as exploring the city of Passau. The kitchen is excellent—this time I had the garlic grilled trout and it was delicious. I was also positively surprised by the portion size.

Surrounding scenery near hiking trails. Outdoor area on property was very nice but wasn't an ideal time to take advantage of it. Breakfast was very good and inviting. We did take in a dinner as well which was the best meal on our trip I believe.

“Beautiful nature, great breakfast”
Beautiful nature. Although the venue is very clean, organised with great facilities, we could not make use of them because of a rest day- Ruhetag that we did not take into consideration.

Located quite outside the city, very small roads that lead to the hotel that could get tricky if some car comes from the opposite direction as the road is super narrow. We got a room in the attic that got quite hot at night and the ventilator provided was noisier than a tractor running next to you. The breakfast was also very basic. Nothing special about this place.

A bit out from Passau but very clean and tidy - great food including breakfast. Room has air con but a portable unit rather than built in - didn’t cool dry room enough.

“Great room and lovely location”
The room was pretty spacious and you have access to a shared terrace which was really nice. There even was a sweet cat on the terrace, which loved to be pet. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was nice and clean. The dinner at the restaurant was good. The location is beautiful. Passau is so nice and this place was so calm. There were loads of walking trails around. Would definitely recommend walking here.

Lovely place to stay, comfortable room with beautiful view, quiet, relaxing. We eat at the restaurant fish and was delicious, staff was friendly and helpful , would highly recommend this place
