The location and the view were unbeatable. If you’re doing the Camino del Norte this is right at the bottom of the last hill, right before the ferry across, absolutely top notch place to rest. It’s not cheap but it’s not expensive at all for the quality. We wished we could stay longer. You can also swim in the ria which is lovely after a hot hiking day. Finally, booking.com screwed up our booking details (wrong number of guests per room) but the property took care of it. Lovely attention from the staff.

“Extraordinary location in its own right, also close to San Sebastian by bus or a 2hr hike”
An extraordinary location, with huge ships passing by the balcony and great swimming off the jetty below. Donebanea is transforming from an industrial shipyard to a part tourist destination. It's right on the Camino de Santiago and that means great walks in both directions. It takes about 30 mins to San Sebastian by bus, or by ferry and bus. The hotel is actually a pension, with a small number of beautifully crafted rooms and a small reception area that also serves as a breakfast room. An architect has re-imagined a traditional house and the result is stunning, if rather expensive. Make sure you have a sea view.

“Overall, the setting is charming, but the logistics can be inconvenient if you’re not prepared.”
Great location if you enjoy quiet, pedestrian areas—but be warned: the hotel sits in a zone with no car access. You’ll need to carry your bags and suitcases by hand for about 15 minutes along a narrow cobblestone road. Also, keep in mind that all nearby restaurants and shops close at 10:00 PM, so there’s nowhere to get a proper meal after that time. Only bars serving drinks stay open. Plan to have dinner earlier or bring some snacks if you arrive late.

“This is the perfect place to relax, take in the beauty of the region, and enjoy some true Basque charm. Highly recommend”
.The building itself is full of character and history, with thick stone walls that give it a warm, rustic charm. My room had breathtaking sea views and a balcony to sit and enjoy morning coffee.
