“Incredible lodge with exceptional excursions”

Beautiful location and tree house style common area, views through the trees down to a river. Delicious Shan cuisine and very relaxed. The excursion with Uncle Wat was fantastic, 3 caves was definitely incredible value for money and such an adventure, breathtaking scenery in between caves too.

Must visit if you're in the region and you're adventurous.

Staff went above and beyond! Laundry came back clean and dry the same day or following morning. Food is excellent and never got tired of it. Make sure to try the local Shan dishes on the menu! Felt much more like a home than any kind of hotel. John, the owner, is hella friendly, easy to get along with, and a very interesting character. The staff will help arrange anything you need!

Super nice accommodation close to nature with amazing caving tours. Extremely kind staff speak great English and were able to help out with everything incl. meds for stomach issues, etc. Would 10/10 recommend to people looking for adventure tours in nature.

Fantastic place to stay after our cave visit..its right on the river,and has a big communial area,with a fire pit..rooms are basic but clean and comfortable..hot water is for three hours a day as the heat the water through a fire..

Amazing location and beautiful buildings packed with rustic charm. Did a kayak tour through the cave, the guide and all the staff were brilliant. Stayed an extra night so I could finish reading the copy John Spies memoir they have in the main lodge, fantastic stories of setting up cave lodge with insights in to the local people, history and nature. Thoroughly recommend!

“Our favourite stay of our 3 week trip.”

This was our favourite stay in our 3 week trip around Northern Thailand. The huts are basic but clean and comfortable and the staff and owner are incredibly helpful, kind and informative. I can't quite put my finger on what makes this as special as it is, but being amongst such lovely people in a jungle setting with a great set up made for a wonderful vibe and very memorable stay. The food was delicious and we felt so welcome, we loved it.

Cave lodge is a must if you are riding the mea hong son loop. Very friendly and wonderful food in the restaurant after a long ride. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and in the evening you can hear the Gibbons calling. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery

The location is beautiful, such a nice break away from the busy cities. The food at the restaurant is lovely and well priced. I absolutely loved the kayaking trip that they organise. We took part in the Loy Krathong festival which was a great experience. Also big thank you to the staff members who helped me get back to Pai - Really appreciate their kindness and hospitality! Would highly recommend

The staff is very kind and was very helpful to get a ride to Mae On Song The beds and bathrooms are very large. Very unusual location in the forest and close to the river. Clean and quiet. Such a place would deserve to stay longer.

“A great place to stay to explore the local area”

The Cave Lodge is a great base for exploring the nearby areas. We loved our little bungalow - it felt like being in a tree house. It was however very damp there (being wet season) and not so great having only cold shower (even though we were told there was meant to be hot shower during certain hours). We enjoyed doing the white-water kayaking trip #2 through the Tham Lot cave, local walks and motorbike day tour out to the Myanmar border. We found the staff not so helpful in terms of providing correct advice (quite the opposite - we almost missed out on doing the motorbike ride that we had to arrange ourselves last minute, as the offer from the Cave Lodge staff was not good - limited only to the local area and overpriced). Our breakfast seemed also quite expensive and not so great and combined with the lack of hot shower (that was needed after our days spent out and about!) and not that helpful staff lead to our slightly lower overall rating. It is still a great place to stay that I would 100% recommend.
