Tranquility out of season was exactly what I was looking for to start the year

Before confirming my booking, I explicitly stated that I required a quiet room in order to recover from surgery and work remotely. I was assured that this would not be a problem and that, although there was construction at the hotel, no construction would take place at the apartment. However, at 8:00 a.m. on the first morning, heavy construction started directly in the apartment above mine. Workers were removing tiles and rebuilding the space entirely. The noise and vibrations were so extreme that it was impossible to remain inside the apartment without professional ear protection, which the workers themselves were using. As a result, I was forced to take an unplanned holiday day, causing professional and personal difficulties. After lengthy discussions, I was eventually moved to another room later that afternoon, meaning I lost most of the day. Given my post-surgery condition and physical limitations (which I had clearly communicated), I asked for basic assistance to move my luggage and a full week of groceries. This was not a luxury request but a matter of basic human consideration, especially since the situation was entirely not my fault. The response from reception was rude and dismissive, stating that because the property is “only 2-star,” they do not help guests with such matters. No help was offered, despite staff and workers being present and physically capable. I was also informed that the misleading information was supposedly Booking.com’s fault, due to “4 dots,” and that only the hotel — not the apartments — falls under this category. This does not excuse the fact that: • Construction inside the apartment building was not disclosed • The spa mentioned in the description was closed • The sea view does not match the photos provided I later confirmed with on-site workers that the construction is planned to last approximately six weeks, meaning management was fully aware of the situation at the time of booking.
