“Stylish and atmospheric”

Very stylishly renovated hotel, with rooms scattered through the historical district of Ozu. Loved the cedar bathtub, the guest lounge, and the quiet garden. We didn’t have dinner in the restaurant but the breakfast was delicious. We particularly enjoyed strolling around Ozu in the evening after the tour groups had left, and our visit to Garyu Senso. We went right when it opened at 9am and had the place to ourselves, which was magical.

I loved staying in the old house, arranged in such a modern way. The breakfast was really tasty and the location was great. The staff was very thoughtful and helpful and the welcome sweet was really yummy and paired well with the tea.

Our room was situated at the foot of Ozu castle. We had wonderful views from our sitting area which we thoroughly enjoyed. The wooden bath was superb. We enjoyed the old town feel as the rooms, lounge and breakfast area were all dotted around town.

The whole experience of staying in an old traditional Japanese house in an old town. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Brought our luggage directly to our rooms. Hotel served a French Japanese fusion dinner with sake. Guests had access to complimentary drinks all day. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in Ozu Do note the hotel has rooms all over the old town. So you will need to walk out into the streets to the dining venues or main reception.

Beautifully restored hotel to Efo-Meiji period , but with modern amenities such ass a super cedar bath tub! Large double storey rooms, quiet and generously with free mini bar Staff attentive and helpful. Japanese breakfast was exceptional Highly recommend eating at their French inspired restaurant under the Ozu castle

The hotel has wonderful rooms, the food was great, the service perfect.We had shuttle service to the dinner location, which was 15-20 minutes from our room, the driver picked us up on time and was very nice. Drinks in the room were free.

This is a different level of experience while travelling. Nipponia has restored different houses spreaded around the village, all of them with exquisite taste. The lounge garden, the breakfast room, the detail… All excellent. Dinner was exceptional. We were hosted by a tall man from Tokyo who speaks excellent English and was incredibly nice

“Another stay and night in traditional Japanese townhouse”

A relatively bigger and also busier (weekend perhaps?) property comparatively to its sibling we stayed in Takehara Saltworks. Staircase was gentler. Room was bigger and spacious. Also surrounding area was busier with more activity and higher positve energy level overall

It is in a quaint old town and we are given the entire unit which consists of 2 levels. It is very spacious and elegantly done up. It has a beautiful Japanese Garden too!

This was well worth the extra money vs the usual hotels you can stay in in japan. The hotel comprises a collection of old town houses that have gardens and courtyards and are in the old town of Ozu . We had dinner and breakfast included. The dinner was a 7 course meal and we had paired sake. It was outstanding, the chef did a fantastic job with all courses. Probably one of the best meals we have ever had. The room was actually a two story house with a garden and was spectacular. Finally the staff were excellent and added to what was already a very special hotel.

Cutest place ever! Old town houses refurbished with great attention to detail. The hotel is not one single building, but rooms/apartements are scatterend around the old part of the town - all within walking distance. There is a lounge with a generous garden to sit, a breakfast venue, an a restaurant nesr the castle.

“Historical Escape”

We appreciated the concept of a hotel chain repurposing historical buildings that may otherwise fall into disrepair because of decreasing populations in rural towns. It seems to have revitalised a lovely town. The units with own private gardens were really special. Unfortunately due to low doorways and stairwell structure in keeping with historical architecture my tall husband kept banging his head. The Club Lounge garden was a sanctuary after a day of walking.

The hotel was fantastic and made the trip to Ozu really memorable, it's really great how they've integrated into the town and made it a destination for people who might not otherwise have come.

Beautiful room in a converted merchant's house in Ozu. The upstairs sitting area is a lovely place to relax, as is the spacious bath on the ground floor. The decentralised hotel concept with properties spread across the town is unique and enjoyable. There are complimentary drinks and snacks available in the lounge, the breakfast is great and the staff provide an excellent service.
