Really nice view at the lake. Great sauna and hot tub.

“Our overall stay was really nice.”

The sauna was awesome and the whole cabin was very neat and functional. I was kind of surprised that the hosts lived on the same property, since I do not recall that being told on the description of the place, but could just be that I have a bad memory. However that didn't disturb me too much, was just kind of expecting the cabin to be it's "own place" rather than being on someone's back yard.

“Lacking the words to describe this place!”

Oh man, I really don't know where to start. Within the two nights of our stay, so many incredible things happened! First of all, Jori, one of the hosts, made the (very exhausting and hour-long) effort to open up an icehole on the frozen lake for us so that we can use it after the sauna. This was the first time we tried a sauna-icehole combination (with -18 degrees outside) and this experience definitely was one of the highlights of our trip! Then, we got stuck in the snow with our rental car and in order to help us, Matleena, the other host, actually called her father who pulled the car out of the snow with a kind of mini truck. To top it all off, we saw Northern Lights for the first time in our lives at the lakehouse! Not only was it incredibly fascinating and beautiful, it was also really nice to watch even out in the cold because we knew we could warm ourselves up in the sauna afterwards. Matleena's sister even called her to tell us that the Northern Lights are visible right now! To sum it up, not only is the lakehouse worth thousands of articles in interior design magazines, also the sauna is beautiful and definitely worth booking, even without icehole. ;) Before booking, I was a bit worried that the vicinity to the hosts (Matleena and Jori live at the same ground in the house you can see in some of the photos) might be strange because I'm normally the kind of tourist that prefers anonymity, but the experience only turned to the amazing one we had because of them living so close. After a while, it more felt like having booked an airbnb or even like visiting friends than being normal, anonymous tourists. Jori and Matleena, thanks so much for everything you did for us!

The house is really interesting to rest for a few days. It had everything you need to be able to enjoy. Very clean, everything was perfect. Fantastic sauna and hot tube. The best is the kindness of Matleena and Jori who have always been attentive to all our doubts and needs.

The location is perfect just a couple of mins drive from Oulu center and the place is very nicely set up. i The sauna is really nice,wooden with a beautiful view.

“It felt like a dream.”

The place was so beautiful it was surreal at times. The dreamy view outside the windows while sitting at the bar eating breakfast. The lake stretching out toward the far shore with the sunlight coming from the west hitting the water. Looking up into the dark sky with shining stars while sitting in the hot-tub. All the details inside the cabin that makes you appreciate how much care and love went into them.. These, among others, are the moments during our stay that I will never forget. The hosts, Jori and Matleena, were very friendly and responsive, always tried to make sure we were comfortable and having the best experience possible. When it comes to transportation, a car is not an absolute necessity. There is a big supermarket within probably 15 min walking distance, and you can cook simple meals in the cabin. But for me, I loved driving in and around Oulu, and popping into downtown for a nice dinner. Side note: We drove from Oulu to Rovaniemi and encountered a huge reindeer on the highway. We had to swerve around to avoid hitting it. It was unbelievable. Side note 2: To my surprise, Finns were genuinely friendly and polite everywhere. I expected them to be expressionless, and maybe a bit cold, based on some “introduction to Finland” videos on Youtube.

“Oulu’s hidden gem”

The property was spotless on arrival and the hosts were amazing at getting everything ready (hot tub and sauna). Enough distance from Oulu so you can see the sky so clearly. We will be coming back again for sure !

“Sauna with a view - wonderful to find peace and quiet”

Location of this place is super easy to reach by car - and quite close to Oulu. Alos being next to the lake with the amazing view from the saune makes this a whole experience. The hosts are super nice and welcoming. Would absolutely do again!

“Wonderful cabin, great host, lake view, perfect hot-tub & sauna...”

Welcome to wonderland... The cabin is so beautiful, with an awesome view on the lake. You will find everything you need, the wooden-sauna is great, the hot-tub is beautiful and all the place is finely decorated. Hosts are just so nice, very welcoming and would help you with everything you need. (NB : cabin only 2 min from the bus stop (route Oulu - Ruka), 20 min from Oulu)
