“Nice place to stay close to Oudtshoorn”

The property is in the middle of nature - the view from the lodges is amazing! Generally, the property is very well maintained and has a relaxed vibe. The road to the property can be driven with a normal car a 4x4 is not needed.

“Peaceful and delightful dog-friendly Lodge”

Peaceful setting outside of town. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. The reception area is lovely, under the trees, filled with birdsong, beautiful views and large couches. The pool was a great feature. Currently 12 rooms, new (larger family rooms) are being added, but still a manageable volujme of ppl. Manager kindly stored our raw dog food for us.

“A perfect stay - highly recommended”

A lovely stay at the lodge, Roy and Hennie (and the dogs) were wonderful. I wish we could have stayed a week. The dinner and breakfast were excellent. It was a very relaxing oasis and could not recommend more highly.

Wonderful and relaxing stay, Len and his team bent over backwards to make our time enjoyable. Fabulous food, comfortable room, and an extremely homely ambiance. Super relaxing and will certainly be back. .

We had a wonderful time in Oudtshoorn, the accommodation was lovely, and Hennie, the owner, was a great person. We would definitely stop at Thabile Lodge again.

“Such a peaceful and delightful Lodge”

This is truly a little oasis on Route 62. Everything is perfect, the staff, the owners, the ambiance, the decoration and the food. A special note to the breakfast (totally different from what you can have normally) which makes it delicious. A place I would highly recommend.

“Perfection!”

Wow! We felt genuinely sad to leave. This place is incredible. The location, the birds, the food, the heated pool, the accommodation- above and beyond anything I have stayed in. Most of all though, Len - our host was so much fun, warmth and kindness- he made us feel like part of the family. His humour - I just smiled and laughed the whole time here - it was perfect and I felt privileged to have met him.

“My kinda place!”

Perfect location within easy reach of all Oudsthoorn has to offer but without the overt tourist feel. Extraordinary views to the mountains, chalet type rooms with air con. Wonderful garden with a range of beautiful birds. A glorious warm pool, large enough to swim lengths, and lastly the staff were just great. Hennies dinners were delicious and our host Len was a very warm and welcoming, with a wicked sense of humour and entertaining stories. We left as friends and wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else! Thank you. Oh and the dogs are gorgeous…

“relaxing, friendly - perfect short stay venue”

The setting is fantastic,; the owner and staff were very friendly and personable - not too intrusive but did pay attention to service. The pool is a win (and an absolute neccessity). The fact that it is relatively small - only 12 rooms, means that there are not too many people - it feels more private. Were happy to put house our groceries in their kitchen fridges during our stay.

Our stay at Thabile Lodge was truly wonderful — we’ve known Lin (and the team) for years, actually since our first visit back in 2013, so it’s always like coming home! This time, the lovely host surprised us once again with a generous complimentary upgrade to a beautiful, spacious apartment, which made our short stay feel extra special. The apartment offered the most breathtaking views over the mountains and the peaceful Karoo landscape — absolutely stunning and so serene! Unfortunately, we could only stay one night, and it felt far too short. We wish we could have stayed longer to soak up more of the cozy, welcoming atmosphere we’ve loved for over a decade. In the evening, we enjoyed an absolutely delicious homemade dinner — the food was outstanding, and it’s clear the hosts are incredibly talented in the kitchen! Everyone was so warm, friendly, and hospitable, making us feel completely at home as always. We also loved the adorable dogs on the property — they were such a sweet and fun addition, just like old friends! All in all, Thabile Lodge remains a real hidden gem with a warm, family-like vibe that keeps drawing us back. We can’t recommend it enough — we’ll definitely return again soon (and hopefully for a longer stay next time)! Thank you, Lin, for another unforgettable visit! ❤️

What is there not to like... it was the most cosy and perfectly equipped stay away from the buzz. We had a sleepover for only one night during our road trip, but the rest and memories we have will forever be part of our story! THANK YOU LEN AND HENNIE!
