“Unforgettable experience”

An absolutely incredible experience. Our tent verandas overlooked a watering hole home to three hippos — such a special sight. We loved the game drives and saw an amazing variety of animals. The guides were so knowledgeable, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. A truly unforgettable stay that we would highly recommend.

“Close to perfect”

Perfect location to discover the wildlife of Africa especially with children. Watching hippos from the breakfast table and Niyalas from the bed is an unforgettable experience. The friendly staff is another important part of the high quality service we received at buffelsdrift.

“A good introduction to a game reserve”

Tent was good, well equipped. Liked the outside shower. Comfy bed. Restaurant food - dinner - good selection, good quality. Bobotie was excellent. Breakfast - self service, OK. Need boiling water for tea, not hot water. Would suggest self service for fruit, cereals etc but let staff take orders for tea, coffee & cooked breakfast. Game experiences - good selection to choose from. Feeding elephants was great, meercats excellent. Bush safari good. You're not going to see the big 5 but you see enough and it feels good to be in the bush.

“Great Safari Lodge”

A beautiful lodge located right by the edge of a waterhole, where friendly gazelles wander between the huts. Three hippos live in the water, and safaris can start directly from the property several times a day — we even saw a rhino. The kids were thrilled. The food is excellent.

This resort is fantastic for people wanting a value for money safari experience and the ability to have encounters with elephants and big cats. It is especially good for people with small children. We were a varied group of over 20 people in total and everyone had the best experience seeing elephants, hippo, rhino, buffalo, zebra, giraffes, giant tortoise and numerous species of birds and buck (including Springbok, Impala etc). Every staff member we came across was amazing - the hospitality is fantastic and food was all prepared to a very high standard. We only stayed for one night but should have stayed longer - the pool area overlooks a large watering hole and you could easily spend a day simply sitting there and relaxing. The elephant encounter was very special - we have never been that close and intimate with elephants. Thank you Buffelsdrift - it was an amazing experience and the tents were better than a lot of hotel rooms that charge similar prices - luxurious and all with amazing views.
