Overview
Kangetsuen is a 15-minute walk from Tokachigaoka Tenbodai Observatory and a 20-minute drive from Obihiro Station. It offers Japanese-style accommodation with a public bath, free parking and free wired internet access. Each room is equipped with a personal safe, an electric kettle and a flat-screen TV. Air-conditioning and heating facilities are both offered in rooms. Most rooms offer tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding. The lobby area offers free usage of computer. A massage service is available. Coin-operated laundry machines are provided for guests’ use. Nire no Mori Restaurant serves Japanese or Western buffet dinner made with local ingredients. Kangetsuen is a 40-minute drive from Tokachi Obihiro Airport. Tokachi Bokujo Farm is 24 km away.

It is futon beds .. couldn’t adjust the air conditioning .. had to leave window open and room overlooking some machinery so was noisy .

“Good Onsen, not able to recommend the buffet dinner.”
The onsen was clean and well managed but as an Onsen Hotel, guests are already paying a premium to travel in and out of it (it’s 11km from Obihiro) at least distance Obihiro to do anything touristic, so then paying an additional 1500 Yen per person per day as an Onsen tax seems excessive. We used taxis till on third day we asked staff to book as a taxi and they said we could use the bus and gave us a bus ticket. The Tourist info at Obihiro said the bus to Obihiro was free for their guests so the transport message isn’t being announced well enough.

Excellent onsen facilities. Very family oriented with one of the best buffets we've experienced in Japan. I had japanese room. Friend Western. Both good. Loved that you can bring pets.

Nice Japanese style rooms, the staff was very friendly and a great onsen. The buffet also had some amazing choices. There is a nice walking area along the river for a peaceful stroll after a hot onsen
