The place is a true gem! Very well kept with lush surroundings, a waterhole, exceptionally good home cooked food and most friendly staff. We hope to have a chance to stay at this place again!

“A great family owned and run game ranch close to Otavi.”

A great family owned and run game farm just outside of Otavi, offering hiking, horse riding, game drives and breakfast in the bush. We did them all and every activity was fabulous! The delicious fresh food was locally sourced; the meat was from their farm and all beautifully cooked onsite. The rooms overlooked a watering hole which hosted all manner of farm and wildlife - giraffe, various antelope including Wildebeest and Sable, Ostrich, Warthog, birds galore and Baboons. The dining area, deck, pool and bar look out to the waterhole and mountains behind. All the staff and owners were wonderful, friendly and very welcoming! Our guide Harald and driver Anton were amazing, as were the beautiful volunteers running the horse riding. Our room was perfect for us - very spacious with 2 big beds, lovely bathroom, and a private balcony with views of the game drinking at the waterhole. Night time was peaceful and quiet. We pre-arranged with Harald before leaving Aus to pay at the property as our credit cards were declined through booking.com

Everything...the staff and dinner every evening was exceptional.

the silence and the wildlife, by sitting on our terrace you could see giraffes passing by. breakfast and dinner was very good.

We had a wonderful stay at Gabus Lodge. The place is very well maintained, perfectly clean and tastefully decorated. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable bedding, and offer a fantastic view of the waterhole, where you can admire many warthogs, oryx, impalas, and birds! We went on a night safari that allowed us to observe many giraffes, hyenas, baby bush animals, and many other species. It was a lifetime experience. The meals are delicious, and the wine list is extensive. We were particularly touched by Heinz's kindness, who took the time during breakfast to explain the origin of the farm, his fascinating daily life, and his love for this region. Also my mother forgot a reading device in the room, and Harald kindly brought it back to us a few days later in Swakopmund. It's absolutuely remarkable to see how they are comitted to help and delight their guest. We are absolutely happy with our stay and only regret not being able to stay longer.

Harald and his team are very friendly and professional hosts. The reserve is well maintained with plenty of animals around.

“Great Place to Stay”

We stayed in Gabus Lodge for 2 nights and were very lucky to spend our Christmas Eve there. The place is magical, it's a big farm with many animals you can watch. The rooms are big and very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were amazing too, we sat outside while looking at the animals in the morning. The most beautiful thing about the place is that an amazing family runs it. They are so warm and welcoming. We enjoyed staying there with our body and mind. Thank you so much

Loved the layout, the location and the wildlife on the property. The horse ride was fantastic and the food was excellent. Run by a lovely family and super friendly and professional staff.

“five star experience”

When you arrive you ask yourself were this is going but behind the facade of chicken and geese pen is an oasis. Very nice people and although the buildings feel bit out dated, the rooms are comfortable and clean. They all look out over a waterhole. You can see all kind of animals passing by. The space around the pool its very nice and dinning outside was great. The food was lovely. Shower gave a lot of water. Great value for money.

Had to make a last minute booking. They made us feel very welcome. Very clean! Friendly and helpful staff. The Dinner was exceptional! Breakfast was as expected with great coffee.
