The facilities are new, the kitchen is incredible, the beds are comfortable and the free breakfast is substantial.

The hostel is on a busy main road. Having said that, I must also say that I didn't hear traffic noise coming through during the night. Its location is between the terminal where buses from Quito arrive, and the stop where the buses to Tulcan pick up passengers. The famous plaza de Poncho market is about 10-15 minutes on foot. Various eateries are near the hostel. The interior decoration of the hostel is par excellence, solid rattan chairs, well finished wooden tables for dining, grey slate stairs and flooring. A kitchen in granite and steel, well designed for use. The dorm room has 3 wide single beds with colourful native blankets. There is a cupboard with 2 lockers for use.

A great place to start trips to the lagunas, go to the market or relax at the terrace with a great view and hang out with other travelers. The fresh orange juice for breakfast is amazing and the staff is super nice and caring :)

The Traveller Hostel was incredible and the best bang for your buck you will find anywhere in Otavalo! We booked the family room so that we could have extra space and it was far more spacious and comfortable than my partner and I were expecting. Our main window looked out into the mountains and it was beautiful to watch the sun set over them each evening of our stay. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and we never got sick of it in all the four mornings we stayed there! It is only a fifteen minute walk to the Otavalo markets and very easy to follow directions to getting to. There are several restaurants within a couple minute walk and a bank only a few minutes away with international ATM access. The staff were very hospitable and helped us with all our requests and queries. My partner and I were having difficulties setting up our Sim Cards and the receptionist gave up thirty minutes of his time to speak with the Spanish telephone operator in order to help us. He was so kind that he refused to accept our tip that we offered him for all his help. My partner also fell temporarily sick during our stay and required a doctor. The second receptionist gave up her time to book the appointment in for my partner and even walked us over to make sure we got there safe. Absolutely incredible service and I cannot recommend the Traveler’s hostel enough for your upcoming stay in Otavalo!!
