Great breakfast and very friendly staff. Location was perfect for my wife and I as I could catch the bus to Kiroro from right out the front and she had plenty to do in town for a few days. Would definitely come back. Minor criticism is that they didn’t offer a luggage transfer service to our next hotel.

“Pretty Average”
Location is great but having been to many hotels and resorts within Hokkaido, I feel this hotel was a let down. The staffs lack warmth. I didn’t appreciate how the breakfast service was run. The front desk didn’t have the Japanese politeness. It feels like staying in a Singaporean type of service.

“An excellent place to stay in Otaru”
Excellent location overlooking the canal and close to shopping area. Comfortable beds. Dyson hairdryers in onsen area. Friendly and polite staff. On site parking.

“Although the location is very good, the cleanliness was really poor, and the breakfast was not as tasty as expected.”
The location is excellent — it’s right next to the Otaru Canal, and it’s very convenient to get anywhere.

“Hotel Sonia Otaru”
Very nicely decorated and appointed hotel. Pretty large rooms compared to your average hotel in Japan. The location is great, especially for the light festival with the canal views, and the public bath on the roof is wonderful and really well kept. Provided with two type of pillows so able to choose the best for me which was nice. This is the second time I have stayed here and I would choose to every time I come to Otaru.
