I like about the unique design and home like stay. The room is cosy and have all necessary facilities and even small onsen. The breakfast provided was good and sufficient variety. There is a pizza restaurant nearby called The Coast serves nice pizza for dinner time. it is walking distance to the Otaru Canal also.

Everything was amazing in terms of the location, it's a beautiful little town with lots to see and do. The house was lovely, breakfast tasty and the staff and other travellers were very friendly.

So clean, neat and comfortable. The owners were so nice. They even presented my son with a little pizza at breakfast the morning we left. The breakfast was very nice. Close to the station and bike hire, great malls to walk down too.

We had a great time at Umenoya. Our bedroom was large with tatami mats and futons on the floor, beautiful and perfect for our 15 months old girl who could run around and fall over without getting hurt. The staff was very helpful and the bath was small but nice (and tattoo friendly, despite the sign on the door).

The hotel is quite charming - with a cultural feel, especially the Japanese garden outside the breakfast room. Our bedrooms with tatami mats were comfortable and fairly spacious. The private bathroom was very small but perfectly functional. The breakfast was limited but fine. The parking outside the hotel was really handy - though it's on a first come first served basis. The location was very convenient - walking distance to the main shopping street and restaurants - but the immediate hotel area itself was quiet. We really appreciated the hotel staff's kindness about our booking mistake. The price-quality ratio is very good. We would stay there again when visiting Otaru.

Good value for money

This place is an incredibly great value. The room was large and beautiful, the bath was amazing, breakfast alone was worth half the price of the room, and the staff were as helpful as can be. Even with the two drawbacks (the train nose on the nearby tracks and bathrooms being on the ground floor only), I would happily stay again.

“Sushi Paradise”

This is a perfect spot nestled in a cute restaurant district and just far enough from the main tourist strip but easy to walk there. Quaint, clean, comfortable. Breakfast is amazing! Great selection of traditional foods, coffee, and tea. Artificial onsen is hot and a great way to recover after a ski day at any of the nearby resorts.

Beds on the floor but comfy and a small cahir and table included. The room had the tinniest bathroom I've ever seen but it had Good onsen bath. Good breakfast and friendly staff
