This place was charming and funky. Beautifully renovated. Easy to be comfortable, super helpful staff and located basically on the ski run. Food was terrific, the bar is handy and the people great.

Guest house was very clean and cosy. I like how their common area is set up for people to relax or have fun. There is a nice bespoke self-service pantry, card and board games for group activities, Japanese manga to read. They have quite a huge common area for guests to have their meals, play games or just sit down and enjoy time together. The lodge staffs were very friendly and helpful with our questions and requests. For the location, they are very near to the ski slopes, you can just walk over with ski boots and gear.

We loved the atmosphere - a respectful and welcoming place. The staff were so helpful. We especially loved how the lodge had held on to its traditional Japanese style and feel. The location is perfect too - away from the hustle and bustle of resorts and loudness of back packers - but close enough to everything you’ll need.

Location for skiing is ideal. Walk over the road and ski down on piste to the ticket office/ gondola. Prepared meals were excellent. Extremely clean.

The location is fantastic, right across the road from the ski slopes. The hosts were so kind and accommodating (we were able to hire our ski gear and buy lift passes through them & they kindly drove our luggage to the bus stop for us when we were departing), the breakfasts were delicious, the facilities were very clean and we appreciated the washer and dryer facilities. Thank you so much!

Loved that the slopes were literally across the street and we could snowboard straight down to the ski lifts. The amenities were clean, and the lodge was super cosy. The host cooked us amazing breakfasts and helped us out when we needed to get in touch with the ski schools.

We are 2 adults and a teenager stayling in a 2-storey family room. The room is very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The dinner was a hotpot set which was delicious. The hosts provided useful information of the nearby ski resorts and the transportation ways to us. They are nice and friendly. There is a cozy space for our lazy-bone time after dinner. A free hot bath with an outdoor snow view through the window is also the unique feature. The location is just beside the base slope of the Tsugaike ski resort where you can easily ski-in and out. In general, I would certainly recommend this lodge for others.

We loved staying in this lodge - a really homely place to stay and a real authentic ski lodge vibe. My (Aussie) kids were a little apprehensive about shared bathrooms and sleeping on tatami mats, but they loved staying here and spent most nights playing board games* while the adults tried the local sake and craft beers. We could ski in and ski out from the other side of the road, so it was ideally located fro Tsugiake Kogan, but not great if your plans are to jump on the shuttle bus and resort hop. The lodge arranged a really great ski rental service, that delivered and picked up our gear from the lodge, and we enjoyed skiing on better than average skis. 10/10 experience, would recommend!
