Overview
Lysebu Hotel is located at Tryvannshøyden Hill above Oslo, 750 metres from the Voksenkollen metro station. It offers excellent dining, free WiFi and free private parking. All rooms at Hotel Lysebu have a work desk, and a private bathroom with shower. Some rooms feature a flat-screen TV and views of Sørkedalen Valley and Norefjell Mountain. The in-house restaurant serves Norwegian cuisine and features large panoramic windows and Nordic art on the walls. The restaurant offers a new 5-course menu every week, based upon seasonal ingredients and accompanied with selected wines. During summer, guests can dine out on the terrace. The hotel has a wine cellar and can arrange wine-tasting sessions. Art exhibitions and live music events are sometimes hosted by the hotel. Other facilities include a large garden, an indoor swimming pool and a lounge with fireplace. Popular activities among guests include skiing, hiking and cycling. Oslo city centre is a 40-minute metro ride away.

The single room I stayed in felt like a little doll house, it was so cute and charming. The location is obviously beautiful and it alone made the rather long travel time by the metro plus walk worth it. Breakfast was delicious and had a great view of the surrounding mountains and forests, and I also loved the fireplace by the lobby that was always lit whenever I saw it.

“Mixed feelings about this hotel. Style over substance?”
The hotel is in a stunning location and the decor in the communal areas is beautiful. The breakfast has lots of choices to suit most people. The staff member who greeted me upon arrival (Kit) was fantastic - helpful, gave useful suggestions of places to go other than the usual tourist traps and to eat.

The staff was great. Knew a lot about the area, told me about the best mountainbike trails, the best local restaurants and were nice in general. I rented a mountainbike from the hotel, which was a great bike. It had no problem going down some off road mountainbike trail at 60 km/h. There was some student festival close to the hotel, I suspect that's why I got an upgrade on my room. The room was spacious, I didn't like the soft mattress and the shower was one of the better showers I've stood underneath. The pool and sauna are great and had them all to myself a few times. I underestimated the distance to the city centre (40 mins metro ride), but that might be my lack of research beforehand.

“Lovely”
Lovely location, nice historical vibe, very national romantic. Very nice pool and sauna. Alright room, nothing special, but good standard, clean and comfortable. Nice staff and terrific if you travel by car, the parking is very affordable compared to the Oslo City parking.

I had a wonderful stay at Lysebu Hotel. The breakfast was abundant and delicious, offering a great start to the day. The room was warm and cozy, and the bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The hotel is very peaceful, providing a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. It's also conveniently accessible by train, making the journey easy and hassle-free. I highly recommend staying here for a calm and comfortable experience.
