“Acceptable definitely memorable!”
Kamagasaki University of the Arts / Cocoroom was honestly one of the most confusing hostel experiences I’ve had in Japan On one side, super friendly atmosphere,, very open-minded social café for the local neighborhood ,cute little garden in the back where you can actually relax with tea, wifi worked perfectly important when you work online. But then… welcome to karaoke downtown South Osaka chaos! The street outside was LOUD. Like… why is someone singing at 1AM with full emotional damage? The beds were also not exactly giving “deep spiritual sleep....More like “temporary survival mattress.” And the funniest part, the staff were sweet people, but almost nobody spoke English. Which made me wonder.. Why run a guesthouse with international travelers if communication becomes a full Zen puzzle? Still… there was something strangely authentic and human about the place. It didn’t feel commercial. More like stepping into an experimental social art project where nobody fully knows what’s happening including the guests. So my feelings are mixed. Acceptable but definitely memorable!

“Good place to learn and explore something new.”
It is more than an option to stay through the night in busy Osaka. It's an art project and neighborhood communal space. It's run by people in search of a nicer world with arts, humanity and community as their center. I've met a lot of lovely people here, from the crew as well as locals and travelers. Don't miss the possibility to gather together at a meal.

“If it is not available for stay, do not miss the lunch there”
Only question is, what was that i did not like there, and cant think about any. Place is full of wonders, every corner is interesting, wish i could live there and be part of making it. it is a wonderful place. - Home made lunches and dinners every day - it is a definite must. - garden full of wonders - art is everywhere

The place itself overall is incredible; many down to earth (or up in the sky) artists, community-centered activities, the possibility to cook and eat together, the rooftop, the garden, the common room and the musical instruments. The moments spent talking, listening to music, cooking, going around the neighbourhood was one of the best part of my trip and made me want to hang around the place instead of visiting Osaka. I would definitely come here again (in fact I am in a few days as I will fly back from Osaka)!

For lunch and dinner, you can sign up for a shared dinner with traditional home cooked Japanese dishes, very much recommended! It’s part of this hostels spirit of community.

“A home away from home 🫶🏻”
This hostel is a testament to how people from different places and timelines can all connect to one another in a space built for connection. For travellers who are alone, who miss the feeling of home, who love making new friends, this is the perfect place! Every morning, there’s a short morning exercise together with the neighbours, there’s also a communal lunch and dinner you can opt into for a fee. The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly, and you just know they have a heart of gold for their community. For those who simply are looking for a place to stay, this place has everything you need. A clean comfy bed, spotless shower facilities, electrical points, a little pantry, laundry, lockers for your valuables. The location is very central too, with the nearest station five minutes away, and a huge Don Quijote ten minutes away. The only small painpoint if you are in the rooms along the street is that it might be a little noisy at night sometimes, but that’s alright for me :) I sleep better with a little noise. I’ve met so many newfound friends over the past five days… a really unforgettable experience that makes me want to come back to Osaka. ありがとうございます また! 🥳
