Renovated in August 2017, Guesthouse Sumiyoshi is nestled a 5-minute stroll from Kohama Station. Guest rooms are air-conditioned and free WiFi access is featured throughout the entire property. Sumiyoshi Taisha shrine is a 10-minute walk from the accommodation. The bathroom is shared with other guests. Bath towels, toothbrushes and razors are available at an additional charge. The common lounge features a refrigerator and electric kettle, while the shared bathroom comes with bath amenities such as body soap, hair conditioners, shampoo and a hairdryer. Namba Station is a 15-minute train ride from Guesthouse Sumiyoshi, while Tennoji Station and Umeda Station are respectively a 25 and 30-minute train ride away.

“Functional but austere”
The dorms are box like but functional. The bedding is clean and new. I liked the fact that bikes were available and it felt safe and secure.

“Great for the small time I stayed there”
Easy access to the train station, convenience store and laundromat and not too many people. There was only one other person in the same room as me so it was nice quiet and friendly. There was also plenty of room under the beds for storage

“Great peaceful hostel.”
Nice place. Easy self check in. The location is close to the station. I ended up being alone in my room, so it was nice to have the peace of privacy. Comun area looks great. Also there are some bike in free access.

“Very quiet! Love it.”
Self check in. Everything is communicated through a message. For once, it feels like an abandoned building and there was only me in the 4-bed room. But, it turned out, it was clean very well, no wishy-washy, no need to communicate to others, even the owner or even the janitor. Everything is very quiet and I like it. And there are free bikes that you can use to circle the town and they let me have a late check out. Also, there is a nice restaurant on the first floor, not pricey, quite delicious, and again, very quiet!

Contact-less check-in is perfect for low-budget airlines users, since they tend to arrive at the city at weird times, such as late night. Budget hostels like this is usually located at a somewhat inconvenient location, but not for this one. Nankai Kohama station and tram Higashikohama station is just minutes away from the hostel. Air-conditioning and hot water for shower are decently strong.

The bathroom facilities were amazing with plenty of showers and toilets meaning we never had to wait. There was a lovely large mirror behind the sinks which was great. Our bunk room was spacious and included a table, two armchairs and a life saving air conditioner! Everything was well maintained and fresh.

Comfiest bed I've stayed in so far. I just wanted somewhere to leave my bags until check in time but they let me check in really early which was amazing. Great location and only 10 minutes from one of Osaka's oldest shrines

“Only stay here if you're desperate and don't mind smelly dorms and bad vibes”
I didn't like anything - i walked in to a smelly dorm with clothes hanging everywhere and left immediately to find somewhere else to stay
