“The Nova Cave Hotel is a great alternative to staying in busy Goreme.”
We loved everything about this beautiful family run hotel in Ortahisar and stayed for five nights (which enabled us to re-book our hot air balloon trip when the first one was cancelled due to high winds). Our hosts were so kind to us. It was like staying with friends. The food was wonderful with a lovely home-made feel. We booked the evening set meal here whenever we could. We chose a cave suite with jacuzzi and it was even better than expected. The stone carving is amazing and colourful. The wall painting in the courtyard reminds you that Cappadocia means the land of beautiful horses. There is a collection of antique farming tools plus embroidered wall decorations. So many thoughtful touches. We are independent travellers and got about by local bus or dolmus (local mini bus) but the hotel will book you a taxi if you prefer. We were careful to book trips that would pick us up from the Nova Cave Hotel. During our stay we managed a fabulous hot air balloon trip, a magical Goreme sunrise balloon watching experience, the Red Tour and Green Tour, plus our own travel to nearby Urchisar and its castle We also climbed to the top of Ortahisar castle (not for the faint hearted) and attended a local Whirling Dervish ceremony (about 50 minutes, so not the long two hour version.) Our only disappointment was that our Blue tour was cancelled at the last minute but we took the bus to Urgup instead. The hotel is peaceful and conveniently placed for the centre of the town (turn right at the end of the hotel drive and walk straight on). Ortahisar has a couple of mini supermarkets, a few restaurants and a pretty town centre which is not too touristy.

“A magical, authentic stay — Nova Cave made our Cappadocia trip unforgettable”
We stayed at Nova Cave Hotel in Ortahisar and it honestly made our trip to Cappadocia so special. The cave rooms are full of charm, the terrace is perfect for sunrise, and the whole place feels peaceful and authentic. The location is great — in a quiet village but only a few minutes’ drive to Göreme and the main sights, so it was easy to explore without being in the middle of the crowds. The staff were amazing. Ali was especially helpful, giving us the best tips on where to go and what to see, which made our short visit so much easier. They also sorted our ATV trip which saved us a lot of hassle. And we loved Max the hotel dog — such a sweetheart who made it feel like home. Breakfast was fresh and tasty every morning, and the rooms were clean and comfortable with lots of character. We’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Cappadocia.
