Great room, great food, and great people!

“Immer gerne wieder:)”

We spent some lovely days with Surendra’s and Meena’s family. They are very welcoming and warm-hearted and we felt at home right away. If you choose to stay with them, what we highly recommend, you will have a nice and very clean room with comfortable and also really clean beddings. The room has an AC and a Ventilator and is nicely decorated. They invited us often to join them in the common space (outdoor floor in front of the rooms) and spent time together. We danced together, got a lesson how to make chapati, learned new things about the culture and chilled together. We also got the opportunity to wear Sarees and they helped wrapping us in :) One day one of us wasn’t feeling well and they were very caring. If you want, you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner for some extra cost - and it’s very good. If you are still not sure if that’s your accommodation for Orchha here is another plus point for Homes of India: Ashok who helps the families organise the homestays, is also for the visitors a big help. He gave us recommendations for activities around Orchha (for example to rent a bicycle and explore the nearby sanctuary which was really nice), booked the auto rides from and to the train station in Jhansi and also helped us get train tickets for our next travel stop. He replied very fast after every request or question from us and he is very reliable. I hope we already made our recommendation for their homestay clear, if not here it is: we recommend it :)

The place is nice and clean, with shared bathroom and shower. The family is amazing. We played with the sweet children and had a delicious dinner cooked by Mina, the mother. If you want to have a real taste of India this is the place to go. We have wonderful memories.

The whole family is extremely charming! They fullfilled all my wishes, for example as I mentioned that the fan is only running on a high speed, the next morning the electrician was here to regulate that promptly, , Mina or her sister in law make very good fresh meals,..they also respect your privacy., the rooms and outside bathroom are clean, the rooms are colorful decorated, also with paimtings from Mina It was worth to extend my stay to 5 days

“Wish all homestays were like this.”

Wonderfull home stay. Rooms are realy big, clean & comfortable. Bathroom & toilet separated, but clean. Hot water provided 24 h. Only 15 min walk to the city centre guaranteed peace & silence. Family members don't speak english,but it doesn't make any problems. Great place to stay few days but only if children & goats don't bother you (they are lovely).

We had a great time here! We spent two days in Orchha and the family was just amazing! The room is super nice and clean, while the people around are lovely. We had dinner with the family and stayed with them for a while, looking all the kids playing and running around and talking with the women of the family. it was a really great experience, we are so glad we had this opportunity. Thank you for everything!

The room is very nice and it has all you need. The food was delicious. A couple that lives there was very kind to us, but the owner was very rude and he wanted us to pay more than what was stablished in the app.

“Great stay”

The family were lovely and the food was really good. A really comfortable room and overall a really great stay.

Very well situated in a calm environment Very friendly family, we get at least 10 good mornings in the morning. Very cute babies and baby goats =) the children are eager to talk to you in English We get to learn to cook chapatis The "manager?" Of the place is extremely helpful for everything! And even booked onward train tickets for us. I loved the mattress which is homemade and We had a quilt!!! And clean sheets !! Hot water available upon request.

Mina’s family was wonderful with us! We had a lovely time talking to her and playing with her 2 adorable boys. The rest of the family was also super nice to us and always helpful! We highly recommended this HomeStay if you want to live and share with a traditional Indian family! The home is simple and you shower mainly with cold water but with the heat that you have during the day it is really refreshing! The house is not in the center of Orccha but it’s only 20-25 minutes walk from the house or you can take a rickshaw (5-10 minutes). Btw the rickshaw, will usually ask you 100 to 200 IRN never accept!! Indians pay 20 to 30 IRN tops, we always negotiate 30-50 IRN

The family I stayed with were lovely and friendly and Meena does a great job in making you feel at home. She checks with you when you want to eat and what you want to eat. The food is cooked outside in the open on an open fire. Its such a great smell the smell of a freshly cooked chapati. The children are good fun . You will be endlessly asked “ how are you “ by the children.

It's definitely worth it. Absolutely amazing place and people! Gaitry, Saurendra, Ashok, Mina, I thank you for my happy stay in Orchha. Pritigya, Ayush, Armaanvrma, kiss you tenderly) Orchha is an outstanding place, it is worth it to come here for more than two days. The house, room, bathroom are clean and suitable for a comfortable stay. Quiet, calm, safe, all people around are friendly and peaceful. Mina cooks delicious food. When you exit the house to the right, on the way to the great Indian wall) delicious street food is offered. It is easy to buy tickets for the Tatkal train in Orchha. Since the station is small and secluded, it is possible to arrive immediately at the start of the sale.

“Lovely experience with an Indian family”

We stayed with Mina’s family only one night but it was a very nice experience. We cooked with her and played with her children, ate outside and chatted with Ashok about the project. We recommed this experience as it shows as it is the life of rural family and at the same time you help it a bit. You need to accept that it might be hot, a bit noisy, the toilette is outside, but the room is very clean and the food amazing!

That is traditional home, perfect to feel the authenticity of the village life. Very neat and clean room and area around. Friendly nice family ☺️ tasty food. As long as it is real village house, wc (perfectly clean) is not in a room. Hot water upon request (in a bucket). So this variant is not for those, who is really tired and needs a rest and some comfort. That is another type of a stay, to learn more about local culture.

“Highlight in my journey through India”

Be prepared to have one of your most memorable experiences in India! I stumbled upon Homes of India through Booking. Certainly, my stay was way more than I could have hoped for. I stayed with the Surendra family who made me feel welcome right from the start. From preparing dinner over fire, late evening chats, temple visits, creating local arts, trying on a saree and henna, I am pretty sure my experience could not have been any more insightful and memorable. Still, if you would like to have some time to yourself you could always retreat to your private room on the property. The room, by the way, is quite cozy and comfortable. You also have your bathroom and shower. Room and washroom facilities were clean and well taken care of. Most of all, I am grateful I got to meet such a wonderful family. I can only encourage you to book a stay at this accommodation and experience the real India!

We stayed in homes of India for 3 days, we had a great time with the family. Mina is always laughing and shining, she always puts you in a good mood. She also cook amazing food on fire. Also the rest of the family it's really welcoming and sweet, especially the girls and the kids. So if you want to stay a bit out of the busy cities and learn more about how is the rural places life, this is the perfect place to be. I will forever remember this sweet family. Thank you :)
