The views from our room were spectacular. The hosts were very friendly Great coffee to start the day Pre warning of the potential 350 steps up and suggestion of luggage delivery prior to arriving.

We stayed for 1 night while cycling part of the Shimanami kaido. The guesthouse had stunning views and felt very traditional. Woken by natural light for a beautiful sunrise.

There were a lot of mosquitos but no mosquito spray. The faamily next door had a kid who kept making noise through the night so we didn't get much sleep

The location is fantastic and the view from our room was amazing. We booked a family room; very traditional with tatami mats and futons, but with plenty of space, and we had a comfortable and peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast was basic, but delicious

Such a cool place to stay - great view and vibes. And onomichi itself is a gem of a place. Just be ready for the stairs!!!

This hostel is absolutely magical! Onomichi is just OK, and I think that if it wasn't for this hostel, we would have found this 2 nigh-stop a little too long, even with a one-day bike trip on the Islands. But we arrived at the train station, walk 10 minutes, then up the famous stairs and we landed on this magical place! It is located in the temple district, and when you walk off the hostel, you are already in a beautiful location, with an amazing view, and you feel out of time. The room, as advertised, is not soundproof, and indeed you can hear everything in the other rooms, but everyone was respectful and quiet. In the morning, the sun rises, and you can see it from the window or walk to the observatory deck (10 minutes walk) to see it with a 360 view.. From the deck, you can also see the sunset. Well, this hostel ruined all the other hostels forever, nothing will ever compare to that.

“Delightful quirky guest house”

This is a quirky characterful old house converted into a delightful guest house. It has fabulous views from it's high position over the town. It's quite a walk up and there's no road access so not recommended if you have heavy bags. There's no ensuite but this of course is reflected in the price. A lovely chilled reception/ coffee area. We absolutely loved it as being so different from many bland hotels in this budget range.

This place was so unique and beautiful. The traditional tatami mat seaview room was exquisite. The view was incredible, so peaceful watching the sun rise over Onomichi.

The views from the guest house are stunning and the property is very well managed and maintained. The cafe serves easy and delicious breakfast and great drinks. The host was very helpful and friendly.

The guestroom and the view is absolutely spectacular. As a guest, you are also allowed to stay and relay in the coffee/teahouse - which is also lovely. The location on the hill was for me a perfect break from all the city hustle and bustle. I would stay again anytime!

Great location, gorgeous views, lovely cafe space, historic ambience with tatami mats, and a comfortable sleep for a great price. Located right at the foot of Senkoji Park, so it's an easy walk to the top of the hill and to the Senkoji Peak observatory. Right by the famous cat alley and within very easy walking distance of tonnes of other attractions. The location of this guest house is honestly a huge part of the reason that I had such a wonderful time in Onomichi, because it enhanced the ease and beauty of my time there. It's made me want to come back, and when I do, I'll definitely be staying here. Highly, highly recommend.

This is a beautiful old traditional japanese house. We had views over onomichi. We loved the sliding doors and night sleeping on a futon. Whole thing was absolutely great. Lovely we bar/cafe downstairs.
