“Perfect start and finish to the Shimanami Kaido”

Amazing. Beautiful staff who were incredibly kind and helpful. Cute place and very central to all the sights of Onomichi. Would absolutely stay again.

A house with 2 bedrooms with rolled mattresses instead of beds, one hostel room for several persons, and a common bathroom. Sea view is in place. There is a place next door that makes fresh donuts. Guests can use kitchen, if they dare. The host is nice and helpful. It is possible to leave luggage after the checkout for a few hours.

We stayed in the little room at the top of the house and it was extremely comfortable with a very cute feel to it. The host was super friendly and chatty when we checked in. The property is in a good location within the town. Very convenient after finishing cycling.

Lovely wooden building in a good location. Comfy beds and a friendly host. Facilities might be a little under pressure when it's busy.

“Great Onomichi stay”

It's like a treehouse, very peculiar but lovely.

I left some clothes there which when I messaged the owner the day after I left about coming to pick them up, he completely ignored my messages. I’m not sure if he threw them away or took them for himself.

Super chill place

Cool traditional building, common arra had a record player. Nice atmosphere. Good location near bus station and bike rental places for the shinimano kaido

Good location and very nice host who gave some great recommendations. It's a very old wooden building with steep stairs and low ceilings but it's part of the charm. The place is basic and far from luxury but it's got a lot of character. it's nice to stay in these sorts of guest houses as I feel you get a more memorable and fun experience. I was only here for one night but I enjoyed my stay and slept well.

Easy place to stay for a short time to do the shimanami cycling. Short walk from the station/ ferry.

Woody funk chic - cool design, be aware it is not easy access, includes steep stairs. Cool funky design in a traditional old Japanese house updated to a budget friendly guest house with basic facilities.

This place is really interesting, and the sea side room we stayed in was fantastic with great views.

It's a very cosy and warm guest house. The people there are very friendly and we feel very welcome. We only stay there one night but it was a really good and restful. It's close to the ferry terminal and the train station, also is close to a park by the sea so you can enjoy a walk there.

The rooms and layout of the hostel was eclectic - we stayed in the attic room where you have to enter through a trapdoor, which was really cool. The common room had lots of interesting books and a record player with the record of the day (Tatsuro Yamashita greatest hits when we stayed). I felt like it was a nice communal hostel.

Very cozy place, super friendly host and warm atmosphere, i met great people there !

“Quirky funky vibe in Onomichi”

Quirky and funky hostel in a perfect location in Onomichi - a great way to begin our Shimanami Kaido ride. Hiro was a lovely and welcoming host who recommended we eat at Ramen Matatabi when I asked him for his suggestion - it was the best place for dinner in a tiny 8 seater nook about a 10 minute walk away. Our room was up a narrow set of stairs and had comfortable mattresses that we rolled out onto the tatami - if you are looking for an authentic experience this is it. Just make sure to bring a towel for the shower! Thanks for having us Hiro!
