Staff helpful, breakfast was satisfactory with cold meats, cheese and any variety of eggs. Good location 5 minutes walk from the centre of town. The hotel offered laundry and very reasonable cost. We also were able to leave our bags at the hotel while we visited Machu Picchu overnight

“A lovely, family-run place to stay”

I stayed for five nights at Hotel Humantay Lodge and the thing that will stick with me was the kindness of Renato who runs the place with his family. He will do anything to help make your stay enjoyable, including organising drivers for day trips and offering a laundry service. The rooms are very clean with strong, hot showers. There was an excellent breakfast each day. My room was next to the river - I liked watching the birds and hearing it outside. However, if you prefer the quiet, you may want a room on the other side of the building!

What a hidden gem! Hotel Humantay Lodge truly feels like staying with family — cosy, welcoming, and full of heart. The location is fantastic, set alongside the river and in the shadow of the Ollantaytambo ruins. It’s slightly outside the main square but an easy and pleasant walk, which made it feel peaceful while still being very convenient. Our room was a good size and had everything we needed, with a comfortable bed that we really appreciated after busy days exploring. We only discovered on our last day that there was filtered water available at reception for refilling water bottles — a great touch we wish we’d known about earlier. Rene and his family are simply wonderful. They are incredibly helpful and always smiling. Rene kindly organised our airport transfer and laundry for us, which was very much appreciated and made our stay even easier. We booked a suite for two adults and a teenager and didn’t realise it would be two separate rooms. This actually worked perfectly for us, as we were all ready for a bit of space by that point in our trip, but it’s something to keep in mind if travelling with younger children. This is not the place to book if you’re looking for a slick, impersonal hotel experience. But if you want a clean, comfortable, friendly base with genuine hospitality while exploring all that the Sacred Valley has to offer, this place is perfect.

Location of hotel is great, easy walk into the main square for restaurants and local ruins etc. staff very helpful, recommended where to visit, thank you. Hotel is by the river and our room looked out into the river and you can see kingfishers if you’re lucky! Room was a good size, bed large and very comfortable. Parking for the car was right outside the hotel, in a cordoned off area so very convenient. Shower was hot and food pressure too. A lovely hotel to spend a couple of days.

Great lodge with friendly staff and a nice laid-back feel. Private parking spot for motorcycle/car, not fenced but I left my bike there for 6 nights with no problem at all.

The owners were lovely! I was happy I could park the rental car in the hotel owned small space outside. They gave us packaged breakfast for our very early train to Machu Picchu. Nice hot showers too.

Lovely host family. Location is good with easy access to the town and Ollantaytambo ruins. Stunning view from the room, clean and shower is comfortable. Everything is great!

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Building is older but clean and felt very safe. Location very close to town centre.

Renè, the onwer, spoke English so we could communicate, always with a small on hi face, he organised for us a beautiful tour in Moray and Salt Mines in a really good price! He was really helpful for anything we asked ! Also the location was great with decent clean rooms.

Everything, from the warm welcome by the family, the breakfast, the views, the sound of the river, closed to the plaza, we had a beautiful stay, with a bonus that we could see hummingbirds from our bedrooms. Highly recommend.

The accommodation itself is lovely – a beautiful house right by the river, with a comfortable bed and a very pleasant atmosphere. Both the receptionist and the lady preparing breakfast were extremely kind and welcoming, which we really appreciated.

We could take a thermos with hot water to the room for night. We had 2 rooms together and the view from the window of the first room was wonderful. We had a heater in one room. We like Ollantaytambo and visited this city second time. There were a lot of nice and interesting guests to talk to in this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The manager, Rene, was very friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms were nice and quiet. The breakfast was nice.

This was a family run small hotel with good assistance from the owners. They were very helpful making sure we knew what to see and do. Rooms were spacious and good hot water.

It’s hard to know where to start to say how good our stay was. Great location by the river with wonderful views, amazingly comfortable bed, good breakfast, steady wifi. But the real joy is staying with Rene and his family. This slightly unusual hotel is the perfect mix of all the facilities of a family hotel yet all the welcome of being in a family home. We felt so welcome that we felt part of Rene’s family. Rene doubles up as driver and guide too, and took us to all of the major sites in the Sacred Valley, making our trips interesting and always allowing us as much time as we wanted at each site. Oh, and Ollantaytambo is absolutely lovely.
