“A Great Weekend !”
We loved the atmosphere in the Friends' eat-café. Dinners were excellent, eat-like-the-locals. Breakfast was fine. The town of Olivenza (Olivença) is amazing, a medieval settlement in an area where people seem still have time for eachother. Lucky people that live there!

My stay here was a somewhat frustrating experience. I chose it as being easy to find and for easy parking and that was all OK so I presented myself to the young man behind the bar. He was surprised that he couldn’t find my room key and after a couple of phone calls to the owner I was given what I believe was a master key, but as I was unpacking another resident tried to check into my room with another key. I did receive an apology for that – an error by the other waiter I was told. The room was pretty good apart from a very noisy bathroom extractor. The bar/restaurant and la carta was exactly what I expected of a main road establishment but I had a couple of rather heated discussions with the waiter before he eventually took my order. Other diners, some local, became equally frustrated by the slow service. The food, however, was good when it arrived and my tostada & coffee in the morning (included in the price) served in a lovely bustling atmosphere. There was also a mix up with the bill when I was leaving but the owner was on hand to sort it out. I wouldn’t tell anyone not to stay here because everything was generally OK. It was probably just one of those days but, for me, I think I would choose another hotel if I visited Olivenza again.
