This is in a fantastic location for visiting Horton plains. Really quiet little village. Hosts were brilliantly friendly and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Dinner was incredible value and beer was available. Great place to meet locals cos it's the bar/restaurant for the village. Host was really sweet and woke up early to make us a packed breakfast for our early hike start.

“A Cozy and Peaceful Stay!”

Ohiya Jungle Resort is a lovely and cozy place to stay at a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was really good. The owner, Mr. Nihal, is very kind and supported us a lot during our stay. The room was small but very clean and neat — perfect for a peaceful getaway. Highly recommended for nature lovers!

“Local charm in a rural environment”

It was a fair way from the Pekoe Trail but there were few other accommodation options on stages 10 and 11. Our hosts were wonderful and looked after us including arranging for us to be picked up by tuk tuk from the Ohiya train station. The facilities were fairly basic but adequate and it was a quiet and rural environment. We were provided with two very nice meals. Again, our hosts arranged for us to be transported back to the Devils Staircase on the Trail the next morning which was greatly appreciated as it was all uphill from the accommodation to the Trail.

This was a standout stay in our honeymoon in Sri Lanka. The location in Ohiya is beautiful and handy for walks (we did a part of the Pekoe trial which was amazing!). But mainly due to the excellent hospitality of the hosts. When we arrived we were wet and cold and they immediately brought us tea, we had hot showers and they organised dinner for us. The food was delicious and we had a really nice evening in the jungle cafe/restaurant/bar near the lodge with a few strong beers 😅 and a cute dog! The hosts packed a breakfast for us as we were leaving early for our walk, and even got up to prepare us tea before we went. We felt so at home, wish we stayed longer!

It’s close to the train station and Horton planes

Even though the communication with the host was a bit difficult, he really tried it's best to make it as comfortable for us as possible. Keep in mind that the place is quite far away from everything, so don't expect any miracles or fancy hotel-suff for this budget. We really enjoyed the place and would have stayed longer if we had the time (and a different internet-provider).

Surrounded by forest, close to Horton Plains, Dahl was very good, crockery/cutlery spotless

First of all, the accommodation is not located near the stop as shown on the map here on Booking.com. A car will take you from the stop about 15 minutes away from civilization, leaving you with no option to change your plans. Secondly, there is no option to rent a car, as stated and as I confirmed in advance through messages directly on Booking.com. They offer you a ride to the National Park, which is the reason we came here, but it is extremely overpriced by local standards. Thirdly, the room was a dump. Instead of a window, there was a piece of metal that rattled all night, and there was a draft. The bathroom had a gap, it was cold, and the toilet was leaking. I do not recommend it!

The staff were excellent, super friendly and helpful with information and transport. It is conveniently located near Ohiya station and local bus stop. Owner's brother was there to collect us off the train and take us to guesthouse. Not far to Horton Plains or the wonderful Devil's Staircase walk. Home cooked meals were delicious. Very small village ( only 120 people ) if you want to get a feel for local village life in Sri Lanka.

The food is very tasty and prepared the way we like it. The location is very beautiful and worth the money we paid. The staff there are very friendly and take special care of the customer.

“A very warm and cosy stay”

Wonderfull host, he made me a very varied tasty meal with vegetables he had grown by himself! There is a small restaurant/bar, the jungle resort has some "hippie vibes" with the cool staircase full of flowers and lights. In the rooms there is everything you need: bed, warm shower, toilet, ...

It's worth the money and very close to Horton Planes. I guess you can't find anything better for this price in this area. Good for a night or two.

A good place to go to Horton Place. Very welcoming hosts. Delicious food and pleasant atmosphere. You can order a tuk tuk from the owners to the national park. Has everything you need, I recommend it!

“Ok for a night to visit Horton plains”

A good place to stay if you want to go to Horton plains. Host was friendly and helped us organize a Tuktuk to the Horton plains.

“Elephant seen from Guest House. Very clean and great wifi.”

Clean, wifi was good. Food tasty. Very good value. Elephants can been seen directly, only 10 meters across the road from guest house, as they walk in a clearing along the National Park fence line, looking for food. Normally late evening. We saw 5 in total very close up as they are behind fence line. 100% would stay again.
