Lovely homestay very close to Horton plain where you feel like home

Excellent stay !! Ideal to stay the day before Horton Plain, the 15min drive in early morning is very convenient. 5min away for the train station as well. They hosts are very welcoming and cute, they helped us to organise transport. Massive dinner and a lot of cups of tea (it’s always tea time). Very nice outdoor area where we could watch the moon (with a cup of tea) listening to the jungle sounds. Loved it !!

Very friendly homestay, good food quiet close to the park.

Beautiful homestay at a nice location, very friendly and warm helpful family, genuinely interested in us, very good homecooking because no restaurants nearby. We got cake because the daughter had her 18 birthday! Nice room. Arranged transport Conveniently located for Horton plains.

We wanted to visit the Horton Plains in the early morning and thus wanted to stay the night before close to the national park entrance. This homestay was great! Friendly hosts, amazing food (even take away breakfast for the Horton Plains), they even organized us the tuktuk to the plains and also to Nuwara Eliya the next day. We can highly recommend their homestay!

You feel almost like a family Member. Muthu is so nice and funny, and she and her husband took the greatest care of us. From a huge breakfast to tea whenever needed and even some melon in the afternoon. The rooms are simple, but the view and the garden are amazing. If you want to get to know another not so touristic side from Sri Lanka, you need to come here. They also organized a Tuktuk for us to go & come back from Horton Plains - everything was great.

Amazing hosts and excellent Communication before, during and after. We felt so relaxed and it was certainly an excellent base for Horton Plains National Park. Amazing food experience. Muthu is an excellent cook! The room is huge and beautiful. Ohiya Train Station is also a short Tuk Tuk ride away too.

Super sweet family. We immediately felt welcome. The dinner was awesome and they helped us get a tuktuk to Horton Plains and packed us some breakfast to go. The room is clean and spacious and we saw lots of monkeys around the house (also some purple faced leaf monkeys).

What a fantastic place! I received the most warm welcome after a long day on the Pekoe Trail with some nice tea and fruits. The house is beautifully located! Dinner & breakfast are sublime, I had my first egg hopper here! Thank you so much, I hope to return!

Wonderfull, very friendly and delicious

What a lovely family! They took really good care of us, she is an amazing cook. Also the location is close to the Horton’s plain national park. The rooms were spacious and the family made us feel very welcome. Definitely try her diner and lunch :) I’d for sure recommend this place if your planning to visit the national park and love to have an authentic stay.

Wonderful homestay, genuine, caring hosts, fabulous memories

Very friendly hosts who went over & above. Great for solo travellers - very homely, met other guests but also felt very well looked after by the hosts and would have felt safe / at home if no other guests staying. Best food in Sri Lanka so far - packed breakfasts & lunches for day trips. Tea & bananas or biscuits waiting before and after long day trips, nothing was too much trouble. I stayed 3 nights and was really pleased with my decision. The hosts organised my day trips & a guide on arrival. Day 1 I did Devils staircase, went swimming in the largest waterfall, took a local bus to Haputale and caught the train back to Ohiyo. I absolutely loved this day and would highly recommend it. The next day I did the 9km Hortons plain loop from 6am - 9am, then hiked up the tallest peak with a guide. Really pleased I got up early and did it this way round. Was back about 3pm. If you do this hike, be sure to wear long sports leggings or hiking troswers as lots of long grass & twiggy trees / brambles so recommend protecting your legs and even arms. It’s a lot on one day so def not for the faint hearted - but views well worth it. Back at the accommodation, I enjoyed wonderful sun rises each morning that were stunning. Very happy I based by myself here and would highly recommend ✅ thank you 🙏🏼

Friendly family homestay close to Horton Plains National Park

We stayed with Muthu and her family for 2 nights as I wanted to visit the Horton Plains National Park. We were picked up at the station and given the warmest welcome. We were offered dinner on both nights and the food was very nice and generous portions. They arranged a tuk tuk in the morning to take us to the entrance and even offered to wash some of my clothes. On the morning that we left, Muthu waited with us for the bus and advised the driver where we needed to get off. We really enjoyed meeting Muthu and staying in her tranquil mountain accommodation.

Our two-day stay was very pleasant. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well equipped with everything we needed. The homestay is surrounded by nature and is in an excellent location for visiting the beautiful Horton Plains National Park. The owners were extremely kind and provided a tuk-tuk early in the morning to take us to the park entrance and to pick us up after our hike. They also prepared delicious and very generous traditional breakfasts and dinners, with great vegetarian options. Highly recommended!

Muthu and Mahinda were so friendly and really made us feel at home. In the evening we had delicious homemade Rice & Curry and Muthu packed breakfast for our hike. Their neighbor drove us to hortons plains in the morning and even helped us to transfer our luggage to Haputale. It is a really heartwarming place and I can only recommend to stay there!

Clean bedroom. They are excellent chef as well, the portion is too large but i found it’s a common practice in the country. Comfy bed, heartwarming host. I will recommend to all my friends if they want to visit horton plains. Great location, only 15min from the horton plains (by tuktuk). Had nice chat with the host family, they are so cheerful and i m regretting not staying longer Ah yes, and they have 10 adorable cats. I met 2 of them, one adult cat n one baby cat, both are clingy and love to hug humans
