“A good hotel in Ocho Ríos”

The location was OK, near several restaurants and one of the main beaches. Both the common areas and the room were clean and pleasantly decorated. The room was very large, comfortably furnished and well lit, allowing to read in bed; the bathroom was large enough. There were many options for breackfast, also for vegetarians and vegans. The staff members were professional and very kind, especially the tall young lady who works in the reception during the day.

The Sago Palm hotel exceeded my expectations in everyway. Located in the heart of every thing. Getting out and around was easy. I traveled alone and I felt safe when I went out. Lots of shops and restaurants around to sample the local delicacies and feel the true spirit of Jamaica. The staff at the hotel were all phenomenal! Great food that came piping hot! Clean and well maintained rooms and surroundings. I can't fault anything about this hotel. I am very happy that I chose to stay there and will return and proudly give my recommendations.

Love the pool and the overall vibe of the place. Very upscale look. Bathroom was very modern and everything was clean. The bed was nice and soft and the room was modern. Great internet and Television. The food is great her and the staff goes above and beyond.

Everything but the food and food choices

Booked a queen room - was given a small room with no windows in in. There were incomplete repairs, holes in the wall, broken toilet seat, tiles lifting on the floor. Not worth £200 at all. When I complained, the lady on reception was not helpfull and said this was the only room availble but she was lying.

The food was great! The dining staff and housekeeping staff was courteous and polite. Thanks to Katherina and Savay for making our experience a good one. First impression (which was terrible) does last but the service from these 2 ladies were remarkable! Thank you, ladies.

1. Staff is friendly and welcoming 2. Management acknowledged our complaint that we had worst night ever and made it up to us with a free transfer to the bus station. Hotel director drove us who is very lovely. 3. Modern and new 4. Rum punch on arrival is a nice touch TIPS FOR OTHER TRAVELLERS: 1. Always pay in Jamaican Dollars either cash or card. Exchange rates aren't regulated in Jamaica so individual business can charge whatever they want in USD. And the difference often is huge. I.e. bill at Mongoose in JMD was equal to $24 at the current exchange rate but restaurant was presenting it at $38. So if you pay in JMD you won't be ripped off 2.
