Overview
Featuring sea, mountain and countryside views, Little Red School House offers accommodation in Five Forks, 30 minutes' drive inland from Oamaru. This rural retreat is located on a 940 hectare sheep and beef farm. Free private parking is available on site. The historic property originally operated as a rural school from 1925-1949 and now offers modern accommodation and amenities including a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a seating area where you can relax and a kitchenette. There is a private bathroom. Little Red School House features free WiFi throughout the property and there is a large garden for guests use to relax on or play a game of petanque. The property also features a terrace where guests can enjoy the sunshine and and tranquility or the millions of stars at night. A free continental breakfast is included, which includes cereals, bread, spreads and fruit. The property also has items available for purchase including cheese, crackers, chips, chocolate, peanuts, wine, frozen pizzas, lasagna and gourmet pies. There are two walking tracks available, the 3.5 km Valley View Walk and the Pihiohio Ridge Walk which is 8 km long. Both walking tracks take in the views of the hills, mountains, ocean and the farm landscapes.

“Super comfy farm stay with lots of special romantic touches, and farm experiences”
We loved everything - the Little Red Schoolhouse was so thoughtfully designed and decorated. The bed was the comfiest bed we have had on our trip; our host was kind and greeted us warmly and showed us the ins and outs of the farm and animals (amazing! especially partial to Ginny the piggy and the hens) The outdoor tandem baths were a romantic touch. Loved the muesli! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. Fully equipped with everything you need. Cute, comfortable and so peaceful. Beautiful scenery, comfy bed and the outdoor bath at night was just amazing. Highly recommend to anyone needing an escape to unwind and recharge. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a wonderful day here. Everything was well organized and well-planned. The landlord was very considerate. He prepared candies and milk for the children, and also provided us with food for the animals (there were many cute chickens, sheep, and donkeys). The children were very happy. There were also heaters outdoors at night, and we were very satisfied.

It was clean and tidy and just the perfect location. It had everything you needed. Lots of little extras from breakfast to feeding lots of cute morning visitors. Not to far from Oamaru.

The cabin's location is utterly dreamlike, like stepping into a private paradise untouched by the outside world. Every detail inside and out speaks to its history and the owner's meticulous care. Plus, the food is fantastic.

“Lovely Unique Stay on a Working Farm in Beautiful Nature”
Really helpful, kind owners who did their best to make us feel at home. You get a really generous breakfast every morning (they provide the materials and you make yourself), and it was a lovely touch that our children could go and check the hen house in the morning to find fresh eggs for breakfast. The property is on a working farm and our children loved feeding the goats, hens, sheep and horses, as well as just playing in nature. The double bed is really comfy. There is an AC unit that can be used to heat the room up if it gets cold, and it feels really cozy.

A wonderful farm house !!! The farm animals are really a bonus for the stay. The host is very kind and friendly, preparing so many foods for us ! Even preparing food for us to feed those farm animals. My kid really enjoyed the stay.

“Calm, cosy, clean, inviting, relaxing”
This little slice of paradise was everything! It has everything you need and more! The outdoor baths were most relaxing. The farm stay atmosphere was quiet, calm and inviting! The bed is super comfortable cosy and clean. The place was immaculate when I arrived and it was everything I needed and more! The hosts were so kind and accomodating and all the friendly animals were lovely to go and visit!

“Wonderful retreat get away”
Fabulous location, truly wonderful bath experience on the deck, amazingly comfortable bed and good pressure in the shower. A great variety of teas and coffee, fresh eggs, fresh bread and spreads, apple juice and milk and cereals all very considerate and made the weekend feel like a retreat. Feeding the animals and walking around the farm was also a delightful and welcome bonus.
