“Hotel is ok, area not”
The Lodge is indeed not far from the downtown, and the room was just like on the pictires, and very clean.

“Worst neighborhood ever.”
The problem with this motel is just its location and neighborhood. Oakland has just such a huge homeless problem right now that I did not feel safe living in that area. The police is there constantly, you can see cars which have been broken into in the streets and one person just came to the parking lot, started shouting at people that werent there, destroyed all the stuff from his shopping cart and then started hitting the parked cars of the guests in the parking lot. Broke the mirror off my car. The thing is, from my experience this can happen anywhere in the bay area, the next time I stayed I was in Tenderloin and it was just as bad. Its sad to say but right now I would avoid the bay area altogether until things have calmed down...
