I loved my stay at Gypsy Inn! My stay was very comfortable, the design of the hotel is nice and it’s in a good, central location. The price is also very reasonable. The owner and his wife are very kind! I enjoyed talking with him and he helped me out a lot. Arranged a tuktuk to take me to some surrounding temples, translated everything for me and arranged a bus ticket to Bagan. I also rented a bicycle from them. Overall, I would recommend a stay at Gypsy Inn and would love to return someday. The hotel usually closes the gates at night time which is okay but useful to keep in mind, you can contact them to open the gate if you arrive back late. I have been coming to Gypsy Inn for more than a decade because I love the hospitality of this wonderful family. It is a good location if you want to be close to the pier where the boats leave to Inle Lake. The room was spacious with high ceilings and I got clean, white bed sheets and towels. Windows have mosquito nets - I had not a single mosquito in my room. You can book tours and busses to Bagan or Yangon / Mandalay at the reception. The room rates are among the best in town and it used to be THE guesthouse backpackers hung out at before NyaungShwe was flooded with hotels. Nowadays many hotels are closed but the Gypsy is still up and running. If you are on a budget and look for a familiar atmosphere then come here.

Good location and friendly owner. Helpful staff -room was quite dirty, long hairs (not mine) in my bed and a cockroach in the bathroom. -gate closes at night -Busticket sold there was no good communication, ended up getting to Yangon in 17 hours (not 12)

The management team was excellent. They were most helpful for everything we needed (bus booking, lake trip booking, etc). I got sick the last day and they allowed us a late check out for a very reasonable price, and the manager even went to buy some fruit as I couldn’t eat other things.

Very nice and helpful family that runs this hotel, location is just by the river and close to nice Caffè with delicious coffee. Room was basic but clean.
