They provided invaluable information on local attractions, restaurants, transport etc. Breakfast was amazing (Lesley's bread is the best in Zanzibar!). The hosts were friendly upon arrival and Lesley was really kind throughout our whole stay. The dogs on the property were friendly during the day. They gave us our part of out money back when they have kicked us out.

“Amazing Stay”

We chose this property as it was in an excellent location but a little bit away from the busy 5* resorts. The view from our room was absolutely amazing. We could watch the sunrise from our balcony which was stunning , we also loved that as this was a tidal resort the sea would disappear which was very pretty then return in the afternoon. Colin and Lesley were extremely informative and very welcoming ,I would take their recommendations rather than pre booking trips.

We had a wonderful stay at Game Fish Lodge, run by the super friendly and helpful Colin & Lesley. The room was exactly as pictured: tidy, with daily cleaning available if you ask. The location is excellent too – a few great seaside restaurants are just a short walk away. (Pro tip: rely on Colin’s advice for which ones to try. He knows the “safe” and tasty spots!) This isn’t a polished 5-star resort with butlers and marble bathtubs – but that’s exactly the point. If you’re after great value for money, a pool right outside, and a beach at your doorstep, this place delivers beautifully. It is peaceful, there are no crowds at the beach (unlike in Kendwa), and no annoying 'beach boys' trying to sell merchandise aggressively. There are comfy deckchairs on the property, so you can relax by the pool even when there is high tide, just a few metres from the waves. One of the highlights was definitely dinner – Colin makes great tuna steak!

If you’re planning to stay at Game Fish Lodge, make sure not to book any excursions in advance. Colin, who will take great care of you during your stay, knows exactly how to help you avoid tourist traps and get the best experiences at the right price. He’ll guide you with honesty, give you valuable advice, and make sure everything runs smoothly. His help is truly invaluable. He also checks the weather conditions beforehand to ensure it’s safe to go out on the ocean your safety always comes first. They’ll also recommend restaurants that suit your budget and even give you the chance to experience authentic local spots for a real taste of the island. We absolutely loved it.

This place is really amazing. It’s like a little quite paradise not far from most overturist places in Zanzibar. The view to the ocean is beautiful, also you can swim in nice and clean pool and there is a sandbank nearby. If you want to swim direct you will need watershoes. In Game fish lodge you can relax in privat and enjoy nice atmosphere. If you like big hotel resorts, many people and activities at hotel, this place is not good choice for you! Actually we felt like at home there and it was because of the owners. Lesley and Colin are really special people. Very friendly, kind, with true passion to their job. They dont want only take your money, they really care about yourself and want to your holidays was perfect. We really apreciated so many good advices which we got, and also so many interesting informations about Zanzibar and living there. We definetely recommended to taste a delicious diner. Also the breakfast was very good included local fruits. The room was simple and clean with enough space. Unfourtunatelly we had a short time here, wish to come back one day.

“Wonderful stay at Game Fish Lodge”

Everything was perfect .Colin & Lesley are wonderful hosts ; they are very passionate about making your stay with them the very best it can be and wow, did they succeed !! They are both very personable, helpful and courteous and great fun to talk to (but certainly not intrusive) and very knowledgeable on anything you want to know about in the area from restaurants to excursions and arranging taxis etc at local rates. Breakfasts were excellent with the best juices, fruit platter, filled pancakes followed by your own choice of 'main' including full English with any style of eggs from boiled, scrambled, Spanish omelette etc . Colin also offers guests a fantastic evening meal for just 20$ per person and will tailor the meal to your own requirements and source the ingredients on the day so you know its fresh .I opted for the filleted Dorado one night and it was cooked to perfection .Colin is a brilliant chef by the way . The Lodge itself is in a beautiful spot on the East side of Nungwi and is quiet, serene and has easy direct access down a few steps to the beach and sea with a fantastic walk to the sand bank . If you want to go to the busier side of Nungwi or Kendwa for a day or evening, Colin will arrange the transport and it takes literally 5 minutes to get to either . Rooms are furnished quite simply but are spotlessly clean , have a great comfy bed, with fridge and good shower and the best, quietest air- con we experienced during our 3 week holiday.

Great location, true family feeling with Lesley and Colin. Both breakfast (included) and dinner (you may order for 20 $) were gorgeous. I can hardly imagine better relax.

Home away from home with an amazing location and an even better breakfast! Leslie and Colin are both superb hosts with great local recommendations(listen to Colin when he says wear your swimsuits on excursions, we didn’t and got soaked). If you are looking for a cookie cutter hotel this is not for you, but if you are looking for a simple place to relax and get the real Zanzibar experience then this is the right fit for you. We will definitely be going back!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming property with my partner, and it truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the warm and gracious hosts, Colin and Lesley, who made us feel right at home. Expect breakfasts that are simply brilliant, local tips and tricks for getting around cost-effectively - what not to do & what to do - Colin will definitely help you out! Lesley is an absolute delight—such a solid and kind person, and I enjoyed some of the loveliest conversations with her. The property is exclusive, offering plenty of space to relax and do your own thing. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, and despite being nestled between 5-star hotels, it holds its own and doesn’t lose its shine. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a personal, warm, and memorable experience. Can’t wait to return!!

Our stay at this hotel in Zanzibar exceeded all our expectations! The hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming. We arrived almost half a day earlier than planned, but they accommodated us immediately without asking for any extra payment. They provided us with invaluable information about where to go, what to see, and who to contact. Moreover, they gave us the correct prices for local attractions, which helped us avoid overpaying. The room was simply beyond praise! Wow! It was not only cozy but also spacious, clean, and well-equipped. The hotel grounds are stunningly beautiful, with comfortable loungers, tables, and sofas. Everything is spotless and aesthetically pleasing. The beach is literally just a few steps from the hotel. You only need to take three steps to be in the sea. The pool is open 24/7, adding to the convenience and enjoyment of our stay. The breakfasts at the hotel are a highlight. They are homemade, very generous, and incredibly delicious. Guests can choose from a variety of options, including English, American, and three other delightful choices. All in all, everything about this place is done with care and attention to detail, making it wonderfully cozy and inviting. Highly recommended!
