Rooms had great views of the lake and birds. Rooms were clean, bed was comfy and had a chair and some storage space. Chairs outside on the veranda to see the views and wildlife. Staff friendly and helpful though spoke limited English. Seeing the birds at the feeder table was amazing. Lots of plants and able to walk round the grounds. Food was good with big portions.

Location, nature, birds, staff

Overall stay was good with only one complaint that we had a lot of bugs such a spiders and centipedes in our room which I understand that are common in Costa Rica but still was a bit scary for me. Overall the staff was lovely and the view from the hotel is also great as you get to see beautiful birds from the balcony. For the price we paid would recommend it

This hotel is a bird paradise. The eccentric owner feeds them all day long, right beside the patio tables. He even offered to drive me into town when I had to visit the bank! My stay was wonderful and relaxing, enjoying the birds and gorgeous grounds. I definitely plan to return.

The views from the room were just incredible! The staff welcomed us nicely and was flexible with the checkin times. It was quiet and we could see a lot of beautiful birds in addition to the lake. The room was comfortable.

Nice little room. Bed was comfortable. Nice shower. Great parking for the bikes as the property is down a steep private drive and so not visible from the road. Nice chairs outside of the room with a fantastic view to the lake. Great location away from it all.

Incredible place to stay to see the birds at breakfast. Good restaurant. Good rooms. Great views. Plenty of parking. We stayed two extra days. As the owner says, why pay for the national parks when you can see more bird life here in one hour at breakfast - we had good weather when we stayed - it might not be the same if it rains

“The best place by the lake”

The building with rooms, restaurant and terrace is beautiful. The entire property is meticulously kept and just gorgeous with fantastic lake and mountain views. You can do bird watching from your breakfast table and monkeys are all around. The fresh mixed fruit plate at breakfast is almost too much. The owner is very friendly, personable and full of advice on everything there us to do around.

Wonderful breakfast! And such courteous staff! After the first day, they had stuff ready for us when we came up for breakfast.

The breakfast was plentiful and delicious - a huge plate of varied fresh fruit, a platter of toast and fresh breads, jams butter and eggs as you like them with copious refills of delicious Costa Rican coffee. All this was served on the outdoor balcony where the host is feeding fruit on a platform to the birds who flock to the site. You see more birds up close and personal the you will see in all your visits to the national parks. A true jewel of an inn.

Beautiful, quiet place, beautiful views, beautiful jungle waterfall and swimming pool. Eat your breakfast with the birdies. Fish dinner was delicious.
