An Unforgettable Week at Komba on the Rocks We recently spent an absolutely amazing week at *Komba on the Rocks*, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear this would be a truly special experience. The journey itself was seamless – from the airport pickup in Nosy Be to the scenic boat transfer across the water to the lodge, everything was thoughtfully arranged. On arrival, we were greeted by the spectacular setting: an intimate, tucked-away location right on the water’s edge, far from the bustle of the more touristy spots. The lodge feels wonderfully private – the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Every day brought something new to savour, not least the incredible meals. We were spoiled with fresh, local seafood – including the most delicious fish prepared in a variety of ways – along with vibrant, flavourful sides and homemade treats. Each meal felt like a celebration. The true heart of the experience, though, were our hosts, Isak and Sunette. They were warm, attentive, and full of local knowledge, striking the perfect balance between giving us space and making us feel completely looked after. Their passion for the island and their care for guests shine through in every detail. We left with full hearts, full stomachs, and unforgettable memories of a magical corner of Madagascar. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the island’s beauty in a relaxed, authentic, and truly special setting.

“Little corner of Paradise away from the crowds”

Lovely lodge with the most beautiful beach - crystal water and secluded. On the boat to the lodge, we had the chance to see dolphins swimming by the coast, which was a memorable arrival for sure! The hosts are wonderful, will go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Cocktails are amazing, made by the owner himself! The food, especially the fish, is so fresh and to die for. All staff were friendly and super helpful. Snorkeling gear, kayaks and paddles are available free of charge. The lodge also organizes excursions to your liking. Note boat transportation from Nosy Be to Nosy Komba is excluded from the night rate. 100% recommend this lodge for a beautiful and relaxing retreat far away from the crowds.

Our stay at Komba in the Rocks was nothing short of incredible! My family and I spent three unforgettable days there, and from the moment we arrived, Isak made us feel like we’re at home. His warm and welcoming nature truly set the tone for our entire experience. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves, which made it feel even more special. Isak recommended an excursion to Nosy Tanikely for snorkeling, and we’re so glad we took his advice. It was, without a doubt, one of the best snorkeling spots I’ve ever experienced: an unbelievable variety of fish, crystal-clear waters, and so many turtles! His team made sure everything went smoothly, with his friendly skipper and one of his staff who gave us great insights about the area. Back at Komba in the Rocks, everything was just perfect. The rooms were beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and you could tell that Isak and his team pay attention to every little detail. The food was another highlight!! Breakfast was generous and delicious, and the dinners were just as incredible. Each day, we were served a different local dish, always fresh and of high quality. If you’re looking for a place that combines breathtaking nature, outstanding hospitality, and a true home-away-from-home feeling, Komba in the Rocks is the place to be. A massive thank you to Isak and his team for making our stay so special - we’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, very quiet and secluded with its own beach. We were well looked after by Sunette and Izaak. There are only four rooms, which means it is very tranquil. The gardens are absolutely stunning. You can take a boat trip to the local fishing village, the lodge can provide a guide - this was really interesting and much less touristy than the main village on Nosy Komba. If you have any spare pens, books etc you can bring with you and the lodge arranges for them to be donated to the local school. Can highly recommend.

“JUST BOOK IT !”

Short version: stop looking and just book this amazons place. Longer version: we travel a lot and are a bit picky. This place really surprised us and was far beyond our (pretty high) expectations. Property: As there are only 4 chalets, it gives a very private and exclusive feeling. The chalets are simple but classy and beatiful and with amazing balconys and views. You could stay there all say - but don’t :) The outside environment is lovely with a beatiful garden with lots of trees, flowers and plants. The beach area is very pretty with comfy sunbeds and umbrellas perfectly placed in privacy. There are SUP boards and kayaks free of charge to use and you should! The sea is lovely, warm and safe and you can see fish and some turtles just swimming off the beach. The main building terrace where you have your meals is stunning with the most amazing view over the sea. If you are like us interested in birds you will be able to see some beautiful ones in the garden and from your balcony ! Food: We stayed for 9 nights and were never bored of the food. Breakfast is lovely with eggs, fruit and bread with a variety each day. Dinner is three courses and of course lo of focus on fish. Great, tasty and fresh food with lots of local produce. You can also get light lunches like a salad or a burger. Really good and very affordable. Service/staff: What makes this place so great is the people. Owners Sunette and Isak are just amazing warm and friendly hosts (and even more amazing persons !)and they Will make you feel like home (but better). Nothing is a problem, great attention to details and help with anything you need. For example great excursions for snorkeling and other stuff. Rest of the staff is also really great and you will be very well looked after. We really didn’t want to leave !! We had our last nights in another place on nosy be , was nice but far from this place. If I knew before I had definitely stayed here instead.

“Amazing Hideaway with stunning view, great food and the loveliest hosts”

The owners Isak and Sunette made our whole stay exceptional and great! From day one we felt like we were staying with good friends. The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained down to the last detail (our respect goes to both of you, considering there was only jungle there before ;) ). The rooms are very clean and well-kept, the terraces/balconies of the bungalows are beautiful with a great view of the sea. Filtered water is available, can be constantly refilled and is included in the price (which is not self-evident of course: see Ankarana Lodge, for example ...), which is also very sustainable because it means that not too much plastic waste is produced. The lounge/bar/restaurant area, like the entire complex, is lovingly furnished with great attention to detail. The food is great and really delicious, with Malagasy and South African influences. My wife is a vegetarian and they came up with something new (!) every day and cooked delicious dishes for her. Isak's homemade cocktails are - unbelievably - the best in Madagascar (thanks Isak ;) ). Isak and Sunette are very helpful when it comes to buying vanilla and pepper, so a fair price is guaranteed. The two also organize numerous excursions and activities, the house reef itself is already beautiful and well preserved (also thanks to Isak, who introduces new corals). In general, the two are very keen to “give something back” to their surroundings and to run a sustainable business and support the local population. The price-performance ratio is more than fair and the location is great. Tip: Save yourself the stay on Nosy Be and (only) stay on Nosy Komba, because the reefs/coral at Nosy Be in the north are unfortunately dead (global warming and Cyclone “Gamane”), which is why the dive operators from Nosy Be always head south towards Nosy Komba to dive there, because the reefs around Nosy Komba are still beautiful. Everything! Wonderful and secluded place to stay that gives you those unique experiences you will remember for years with an amazing atmosphere and wonderful hosts. The bungalows are of very high standards with unique views and very fresh interior - rooms were also every day. The gardens are wonderful and the surroundings are amazing - a true nature experience. Tasty and varied meals that were homemade every day and plenty of things to do that the hosts gladly were arranging. We have been travelling much around and this is absolutely one of our best experiences. Hope to come back one day and thank you so much for contributing to making our holiday its best! Amazing quiet place to seclude and merge with the nature. The villas are very well planned, have amazing views and nice designed. It feels very cozy and just like at home. Despite of the peaceful accommodation there are a lot of things to do. Next to the hotel there is a reef for amazing snorkeling. The hotel provides all the equipment for it as well as for kayaking. The hotel can organise a boat for visiting other places of the island. If you like to hike, there is an option to hike all over this incredible island without any roads on it. Another highlight of this hotel is its host and owner! Amazing person who told us the story of building the hotel from scratch during the covid pandemics on the rocks of the island without any infrastructure. It's an amazing project helping also the local community and providing work places on the island. The food was just delicious! That's what you don't really expect in the remote places! We were lucky to spend our time during the Christmas eve. The owner organised a very festive dinner even with the Christmas gifts for the guests. I felt just like at home in a family sircle and was very touched by this. Such places stay deep in heart and I hope one day I'll come back with my family once again. “An amazing home from home in Paradise”

Everything - the location was idyllic, the accommodation was modern, well kept and the hosts were absolutely fantastic , going out of their way to help - we felt like house guests rather than paying guests. The breakfasts were amazing, with locally grown fruit and a variety in the hot dishes, and homemade bread. Dinner was also amazing, with Isaac often bring slabs of meat from the bbq with home grown veg. Amazingly well kept gardens and lovely, smiling staff - Highly recommend.

“Secluded island paradise!”

A truly special place; a proper secluded island paradise! The hosts are very friendly and helpful, arranging transfers and booking excursions. The facilities are good with some beach beds and bar service, plus snorkels, paddle boards and kayaks available to use for free. The food was relatively simple but extremely delicious. Highly recommended!!

Beautiful view from the terrace, the rustling of the waves right next to the bed at high tide All transfers and excursions were perfectly organized, all questions were answered, and in financial matters the owner is ready to provide a credit of trust Tanikely marine reserve is worthy of several visits. We saw there a lot of turtles, reef sharks, stingrays, and huge tuna. The corals are in excellent condition. I can compare this marine park with Bunaken National Marine Park and Moalboal. The house reef is not bad, there are live corals, some fish, there are turtles, you can see 5-6 a day Kayaks and boards are provided free of charge

“Best stay we had in all years of travelling.”

I can’t name one thing I didn’t like. The rooms are amazing, the view is amazing, the staff is amazing, the food is amazing, I could go on for a while. Isäk is the best host you can imagine. Unfortunately his wife was in SA for 2 weeks so missed her. Isäk and his wife He designed the place themself and you can see that in all details and decoration. All excursions and small things we asked for were taken care with so much joy and care! Everything was perfect and regretted that we had other things planned on our trip so had to go. For sure we will come back!
