You can tell it is an older building but it is well kept and clean. The staff is very nice and forthcoming. The food portions are a bit much but it tastes excellent.

Welcoming and helpful staff, very large Japanese style room with views over the valley. Outstanding cuisine served at breakfast and dinner. If you have a car it's a short 30 mins from the shrines of Nikko. We enjoyed our stay and thought it was a special experience.

The building didn't look promising as we drove up but from the moment we arrived the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, the foyer was colourful and pleasant and we were offered complimentary tea and mochi. Our room was the largest that we had encountered during our Japan visit. There were no grounds to explore around the hotel. The food was exquisite for some of us but more about that later. The hot tub on the balcony was a real hit. Bedlinens and towels were excellent and the bed was comfortable.

Easy to find. Not a far walk from the station. Greeted upon arrival and given a show of all the amenities. Lovely balcony hot tub. The included dinner and breakfast was superb

The staff were fantastic. Highly recommend booking the private onsen. It was a great price. Great food for both dinner and breakfast. They also have a shuttle to the train station which is super handy. We will be returning on our next holiday.

We really enjoyed our stay! A classic ryokan experience. The staff is amazing and super polite, they are always within reach to help with anything you need. The traditional Japanese food was delicious and diverse, I loved the regional touch that they used local products of Tochigi prefecture and even local recipes. Make sure you include both breakfast and dinner when you book. Personally, I liked both onsens, they weren’t too crowded in the hours I visited, sometimes I was even alone. Maybe some people might find them small, but to me they were alright. The hotel also provides transfers from and to Kinugawa Onsen Station.

The food we had was amazing it was the best tuna that we had in Japan. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed every beat of it.

“Beautiful Japanese Ryokan with lovely staff”

Lovely Ryokan in traditional Japanese style. I booked it so we could stay in a traditional ryokan and it certainly delivered on that front. Room was spacious and beautiful. They didn’t offer dinner there but the host recommended a local place to eat which was a 2 min walk away and we really enjoyed our meal. In addition, one of our party left their iPad in the room by mistake when we left. The hotel very kindly arranged to send the iPad on to a hotel we would be staying in in Tokyo. We were so grateful for this service.
