The room was comfortable, the onsen was really pleasant (especially the outdoor bath!), most of the staff were helpful and friendly (I do know Japanese however, I don’t know how it is for English only guests), the long operating hours of the onsen were a nice touch too, since you can enter until midnight. I reserved the cottage room and while I was worried that it would be a pain to get too my room since some people complained about the distance between the front desk/lobby area and cottages I didn’t find it too bad. While you have to consider you have to go outside to outside the cottages, I actually loved the view and privacy of the cottage room!

Great traditional Japanese stay with an onsen on-site. The stay is not very modern, but definitely has great amenities, even for today - all you will need can be found. The area is a very nice riverside cliff in a rather peaceful neighborhood.

The Onsen-experience was fantastic. The (somewhat outdated) hotel was in a prime position, overlooking the river. Private onsen-bath’s was available and very nice. The rooms and facilities must have been fantastic in the 80’s but now not so much.

It was situated in the bush. The room was large and comfortable. We enjoyed the private onsen.
