Overview
Opened in May 2016, Guest House KuKu offers accommodation in Niigata. The guest house was renovated from a traditional Japanese sweets store from 1930. The property features wooden architecture and free WiFi throughout the property. All guest rooms are air conditioned and have heating, while beds come with a reading light and electric socket. “Ghibli cozy home in the center of Niigata”
The place is sumptuous with traditional Japanese architecture and many ref to Ghibli. Even though it was a dorm, it felt more like a private room with a futon and a table. The staff was also brimming with positive vibes. The location is great with many restaurants around and a bar at the guesthouse. PS: laundry is super cheap (100 yen)

I think this is the ultimate value hostel. It's clean, it has nice decor, nice rooms, clean functioning facilities, and nice staff + fellow travelers. I genuinely have nothing to pick on. If you go to Niigata, do yourself a favour and book Kuku's guesthouse.

this was by far the best guesthouse ive stayed at in all of Japan! the rooms are super clean and the common space was super cozy where you could have some good conversations with other people and the hosts.

“Cozy and friendly guest house”
Really beautiful and amazing staff, thank you for the great evening. Only tiny thing to improve if you are tall, the bed sheets are too short.
