I have always preferred to make hotel reservations directly to avoid inconveniences, but this time I accepted a friend's recommendation and made it through Booking.com. I drove from New York to the hotel, it was a long and tiring trip, there was a lot of traffic on the road, possibly because it was a long weekend. When I arrived at the hotel at 11:40 pm the receptionist informed me that just 10 minutes ago he had sold my room to another person because they were calling me to confirm my arrival and since I did not answer they assumed that I would not arrive. I emphasize that I made the reservation since February and it was paid. Now what happened here is very simple. They preferred to sell the room to a higher price and that's why they sold my reservation. The receptionist even told me the following: "I have a room that my wife and I can clean for you, but it's a new reservation that will cost you $350, but I'm going to give you a discount and I'm going to leave it for $190!!! " (he makes me that offer after I had a reservation since February at a rate of $90, this is ironic and complete impudence) At 12:45 am we all were still in the hotel, trying to solve the problem, the other guest had not arrived at 12:45 am but they did kept the room for him BUT NOT FOR ME because I didn't answer the call. AT the end the receptionist didn't want to give me the $190 room because he said he was too tired to clean it.
