“Wonderful place to relax”

Relaxed ambience. Great snorkelling and beaches. Great staff - family business. Meals were delicious. The lovo on our last night was such a special experience and the local food was exceptional. Would love to return here when next visiting Fiji.

Emily and her family were so accommodating and warm, we did a lot of activities and ate really nice meals! Loved the bonfire and singing/guitar playing, snorkelling on the nearby reef was amazing!

I loved it, A very attentive and welcoming family!

After 6 months of travelling, our 5 days at Wai Makare Homestay were a real highlight. This is such a special place – the family are incredibly warm, genuine, and strike the perfect balance between looking after you and giving you space to fully relax. Emily’s cooking is amazing (and very accommodating), and little touches like David blowing a conch to call everyone for meals made it feel really unique. We loved how immersive it was – learning to weave, open coconuts, and even going spearfishing. Fresh coconuts on demand, snorkelling straight off the beach with loads of fish (and reef sharks!), and evenings filled with singing and guitar. Most of our time was spent in hammocks or on loungers under the trees, just soaking up the peace and beauty.

We had a brilliant and authentic Fijian experience at Mai Makare. The food was brilliant and catered for my partner’s allergies. The activities were truly amazing and the highlight of our trip to Fiji. The whole family was very friendly and welcoming. Not to mention the tropical paradise and beach right outside the homestay.

I stayed at this for 2 nights and it was stunning. I was the only visitor and had the whole beach all for myself. The host family made awesome food and showed me how to collect and open a coconut. Snorkeling was also really amazing.

Im a female solo traveller, so its always nice to be involved in the family. The boys took me spearfishing and hiking to the village, which I enjoyed so much. It was a bit more expensive comparing to my other homestays, but the set up of the property is beautiful. They also cooked great food. Vinaka hope to see you guys again 🙏

Seru and family were the most delightful and welcoming hosts! Wai Makare is actual paradise and the company only made it that much better. Whether you want to relax by their amazing beach front or part take in activities, they got you covered. Food was also outstanding, we even had fish that they just caught for dinner. If I ever come back to Fiji, I have my mind set on where to definitely go back to! Can’t recommend it enough!!

“Homestay in paradise”

This tropical island paradise has breathtaking natural beauty. The house reef and nearby coral gardens are world class. It is a privilege to be part of the family at Wai Makare Homestay. Remember that this is a very special place in a remote location. Accommodation and food are basic. Take your own treats if you have dietary expectations.

Loved the people, very accommodating. The reef was superb. I really enjoyed it. Even saw a reefshark and a turtle. My room with toilet was spacious but I could hear the people in the next room very clearly . Unfortunately there was no proper place for luggage, like a cupboard.

A great place to relax, good snorkelling and we hiked to the village nearby and everyone was very welcoming. As two vegans we were well feed. You can pay by bank transfer but cash is easier
