“Luxury fused with tradition.”
A once in a lifetime experience. Where we felt pampered and cared for from the minute we arrived. No request was a problem. Massage in the room was a treat. But the real highlight was the Michelin star food served in our rooms. We even had the dear down to our room. An absolute delight.

“This ryokan is exceptional!”
Stunning location about 1.5km from the teeming hordes in Nara, but a world apart. The staff were amazing at every stage: such hospitality! Our spacious room was divine. The facilities were spotless. The 1/2 board food was wonderful! It was a joy to meet the head chef. This ryokan is top-notch and tremendously good value.

This was a very traditional ryokan hidden away in the forest outside of Nara the food was fantastic Japanese food, the room was like an apartment with table and chairs looking out into the forest. It was cold when I was there in early March and although the central room was heated the bathroom and outer rooms were not. I didn’t mind this - it all added to the rustic charm. Very little English is spoken but the staff were lovely and went out of their way to be welcoming and we did manage to communicate. This was a very authentic experience and I loved it

“A serene forest stay in Nara.”
We love this small hotel for its serene forest location and the opportunity to share a special family night in traditional accomodation. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional traditional Kaiseki style meals. Hotel is a close walk to the Kasuga Taisha Temple for those who don't mind the uphill forest walk home.

“Gorgeous and mesmerising.”
This property is bang in the middle of a primeval forest, so if you enjoy nature, a zen atmosphere and spotting squirrels and badgers from your window and free colourful leaves falling, it is such an amazing and tranquil experience. I went in autumn. The experience is one of the best ryokan experiences in Japan I have ever had. The staff are there, incredibly polite to help you with your every whim. As this is ryokan etiquette, they assist in taking your shoes and give you the slippers you use for the ryokan. They run you the hot indoor onsen, and the service was absolutely impeccable. Likewise, you can choose to be independent and explore on your own - I liked how it was a beautiful 5 minute walk into the centre of Nara Park, and this was extremely convenient to see all the temples, deer, and tranquility in the area. It is also on a beautiful walking and hiking route, the food style is absolutely gorgeous and you get your own private dining room to set with your family and taste the entirety of the courses and drinks they have to offer. Surrounded by such beauty in nature was a sight to behold. The building itself is also really beautiful, dressed in yukatas, there are walkways which lead you through the buildings from the outside and if you really wanted you can just gaze from these corridors to the outdoor surroundings. For the onsen experience, you get every piece of equipment soap and shampoo you could need. A great experience, could not fault it, full credit to the absolutely amazing staff that make this stay so incredible. I was also amazed the staff put your bed out and put it back into a living room format during the day when you are out. Incredible.

“Unforgettable Ryokan Experience — Peaceful, Warm, and Pure Magic!”
Stay here instead of a regular hotel, at least for one night! Everything, I didn't know what to expect, but it resulted in the best experience of the whole trip to Japan. At least one night, you should stay in a Ryokan. We loved everything, the reception, the warmth, the attentiveness, the room was spacious and very comfortable, the view of the woods, the silence, the beautiful experience during dinner, the great experience in the Onsen both times, both spaces ( Evening and morning), amazing breakfast. Really that place is magic, the staff running it so warm, and the space is incredible. A must if you are traveling to Osaka, Nara or Kyoto, access to Nara by train is super easy and just takes a short taxi ride to the Ryokan. You will be already in the nature side of Nara and can walk a few easy hikes to stunning areas of Nara.

Perfect location. Perfect hospitality. Perfect food. Perfect room. Hands down, this was the best stay we've had in any form of hotel or ryokan. Nara is an amazing place to visit, and Tsukihitei is THE place to stay in. Hidden in the most beautiful forest, just a short walk away from everything you want to see in Nara. The Roykan itself is built like fusion between zen garden and a Japanese palace.
