Overview
A 12-minute walk from the Kintetsu Nara Train Station, Hotel New Wakasa offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami (woven-straw) flooring. A spacious public bath and foot bath is available for guests to relax in. Free luggage before and after check-in is available on site. Free WiFi is available at the entire building. The air-conditioned rooms feature Japanese futon bedding and a separate seating area. Each provides a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, and an electric kettle with green tea bags. “Peaceful stay in Nara”
We loved the bed chamber which was stunning with the tatami and the onsen was amazing, clean & relaxing. Plus, the typical Japanese’s breakfast&diner were good with a large amount of food. Finally, we were also glad the staff gave us advices for our tour in Nara.

Hotel New Wakasa was one of the most memorable highlights of my trip to Nara. The hotel is located just a two-minute walk from Nara Park with its famous deer, which makes the location truly special. From the moment you enter, you are greeted by impressive interior installations and thoughtfully designed decor that immediately capture your attention. Guests here are treated like long-time friends. The staff genuinely care and take time to introduce you to every aspect of staying at the hotel, as well as to the city itself. The room was simply perfect and beautiful in every way. Refined minimalism and softness in every detail create a deep sense of calm and comfort. I especially loved the traditional onsen and the cozy rooftop terrace with a wonderful view. Breakfast was exceptionally delicious and truly authentic, featuring local Japanese dishes. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always happy to help with recommendations and advice. A perfect choice for those looking for a balance of comfort, atmosphere, and genuine Japanese hospitality.

Amazing hospitality, amazing free guide to Jara Park, amazing room and the staff really helps you explain all Japanese traditions that come with these type of classical rooms and classical robes - which you are given to wear around the hotel and onzen, if you so choose. Custom lighting with dim too - super well hidden. And the daily cleaning was superb (I accidentally walked into the lady cleaner, so I saw everything she was cleaning, just in between days with is having the room). The spot, right next to nara-parks back-entrance was also amazing. Join the guide for the free tour, he will explain everything! Alles met alles - geweldige ervaring!

“Comfortable stay at Nara”
The room that we booked had a sauna and the Sauna was really good. Public baths were a nice experience. View from the rooftop was nice, even though the rooftop bar was not open at that time.

We loved the free guide that the hotel arranged for us. Keiko was outstanding and took us to places we would never have found on our own. She spent 71/2 hrs with us and we enjoyed every moment.
