Interesting vintage experience

Wonderful hosts, helping us navigate the island and taking us around in their car from the port and to the restaurants they pre-booked on our behalf. Spacious vintage fishermen house with all the charms and drawbacks (including old smells and mosquitoes)

Fantastic whole house on Naoshima

The house is spatious and very comfortable. The setting is quiet with great views and a fantastic bakery and coffee shop within walking distance. The pre-arrival contact with the owners was fantastic - including recommending restaurants and making reservations on our behalf. We were also picked up and dropped off at the ferry port.

Amazing and quiet Japanese homestay on Naoshima

The amazing owners! Kuni and Aki did everything to make us feel welcome. They had arranged a dinner reservation, picked our luggage up at the port and arranged the rental bikes so we could start exploring the island straight away. In the train back on our way to Tokyo I found out I forgot my glasses and they went out of their way to send them to our hotel. Amazon stay on a beautiful island!

Authentic, unique experience in a traditional Japanese house with magnificent hosts. Can highly recommend

Beautifully restored authentic house! In a quiet village yet well serviced by public transport and also within walking distance of Benesse Museum sites. Kuni and Akkie are magnificent hosts; communication in the lead up to our stay was excellent- not only did they give us important information re the museums to visit ( the must do’s) but also suggested restaurants and booked them for us. On arrival they picked us up at Miyanoura Port and also took us to the restaurant Perma ( outstanding omakase) on our first night and took us back to the house. The house is gorgeous- traditional Japanese style with a 50’s retro vibe and full of art and art books. An absolute joy to stay here

The perfect Japanese house for your Naoshima visit.

Kuni and Akkie are the perfect hosts, and have furnished this original Japanese house with a time capsule of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. It is filled with decor, furnishings and appliances from the era - with the truly modern appliances for the refrigerator, air conditioning, hair dryer and washing machine, or course. And super-fast internet! Filled with art and architecture books (including artists featured on Naoshima), you could not want a better base for exploring Naoshima. Close to the yellow pumpkin and the Benesse galleries, and great local restaurants, but only 10 minutes on bicycle to the Art Houses. Kuni and Akkie recommended that we book bicycles, restaurants, and even offered to meet us at the ferry to pick up our luggage and take it to the house for us. This is our favourite place that we have stayed in in all our trips to Japan.

Incredibly cosy and quirky little hut just by the water. The owners are a lovely couple who offer to pick your luggage from the port and drop it off at the house for you. They make dinner reservations for you and can book bicycles too. Super helpful, friendly and welcoming. They made our stay extra special.

Amazing Stay in a very peaceful spot on Naoshima.

Incredible Hosts - Met us at the Ferry and brought us and our bags to the property, provided us with a full explanation of both the property as well as the local area. The house itself is very cool - authentic mid-century Japanese house on Naoshima.

Best hosts we have ever had!

Kuni and Akkie are amazing hosts!! They really wanted us to have the best experience possible while visiting the island. They offered to pick up our luggage from the port so we could explore the island the moment we arrived, and made reservations on our behalf for electric bicycles. They offered to book a few restaurants for us, and even drove us to and from them, and on our final day they took us back to the port early in the morning! These kind gestures really boosted up our stay and made our life so much easier, it's beyond words! They also assisted us with the ferry schedules (both to Naoshima and to/from Teshima for our day trip to the Teshima museum). The property is a very authentic Japanese house! While a little old, it's very well kept. It's spacious, had everything we needed and was very clean. Having a washing machine was especially convenient for us after a couple of weeks of traveling Japan :) We visited during winter and felt the house was well equipped. Plenty of hot water, the rooms are heated using strong AC units, and nice thick blankets on the futons. We found the futons and sheets very comfortable, and the outside trees silhouette on the window at night is just enchanting! :) We had a great time there and highly recommend!

An excellent base from which to explore Naoshima.

The house was spacious and quirkily decorated in 1960's and 70's furniture, artefacts and an extensive art book collection. It was spotlessly clean. The house opened on to the harbour with views of the fishing fleet. The hosts were remarkably kind in meeting the ferry and taking our suitcases to the house, leaving us to free to start our exploration of the island. They met us at the ferry with our cases on the day we left. Kuni was generous with his time and provided great advice for a local eatery and which galleries we should prioritise on the island.

Kuni and Akkie are perfect hosts. They really helped exploring the island by making reservations for the bikes and restaurants upfront, getting our suitcases from the port so we could explore Naoshima immediately. The house is a beautiful and spacious capsule to the 80’s.

A house I want to live in.

It’s such a beautiful house with a 60’s sort of vibe. Sort of house to actually live in. Town bus stops around the corner, other buses/beach/yellow pumpkin 10min walk. Kuni is very responsive and super friendly. Highly recommend this place. It’s not in a busy part of the island, which might be annoying for some, but which we loved!

A beautifully curated Japanese house. Fabulous style, lots of art books. Great location. Kuni and Akki were exceptional hosts who booked and drove us to a restaurant.
