Stay stay stay! Cannot recommend enough

Authentic, charming and the most stunning location. We had an incredible stay at Voyager retreat with warm hospitality, fantastic cooking and great excursions (Sawa i Lau caves, excellent snorkelling). The home stay overlooks a beautiful reef and catering to vegetarian diet was no problem at all. Highly, highly recommend.

Former guests didnt lie to us. The food is super good, better than the resorts we stayed in. Host is helpful, and considerate. Room is clean and he puts fresh flowers on the washbasin everyday. The sea nearby is super clear and here is the best place for sunrise, the name should be changed to Voyager Sunrise Homestay. Do go for the tours as much as you can.

We loved our 3 night stay here on the peaceful island of Nanuya. Highlight’s included the host’s cooking, learning about his family history on the island and homemade ice creams! The island itself is also beautiful but small and there are two trails to the other side (one to another beautiful beach, one to Nanuya island resort) with great viewpoints along the way. We thoroughly recommend this homestay

Keep going, you just make people happy! This homestay is amazing, I have travelled a lot and this was by far the best stay for me, it feels like a cozy tropical home! The host is just a great person and a great chef! Everything he made, chicken soup, cheddar chicken, grilled fish, coconut muffin, pancakes etc. was absolutely superb! Also the ice cream was great, coconut, banana and pineapple sooo good! The room was clean and the bathroom was always clean! Will definitely go back and definitely recommend it for an original experience in Nanuya!

Remote paradise with a local

It was an absolutely wonderful stay with Vilise. He’s a very warm, welcoming, and funny person to spend time with. Every day he puts a lot of work into the property keeping it clean and well kept. The bure is huge with very comfortable mattresses and screens on the windows to keep the bugs out. In the future, they will expand to have more bures, but for now the treat of being the only guest is a treasure. He’s happy to show you around the island or beyond. I highly recommend visiting the sea caves to the north. I’ve stayed at a different homestay on Nanuya in the past, but what made me choose Voyager was all the reviews about Vilise’s cooking. It is indeed amazing and you will not go hungry. I also loved all the pups, especially my buddy Rex who was my guard dog and companion for the trip. I can’t wait to go back.

Such a surprisingly wonderful and heartwarming stay

This was hands down the best place we stayed during our trip to Fiji. The room was clean and spacious, and just a short 20-meter walk to the beach. The beach was absolutely beautiful — clear blue water, soft sand, and such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Vilise and Fina have a great eye for detail and are amazing cooks. Every morning, they would decorate the table with fresh flowers and prepare delicious local Fijian meals for us — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Being able to enjoy every meal with an ocean view was something really special. And don’t miss their homemade organic ice cream — it’s so good! They also offer a variety of fun ocean activities. The hosts are incredibly warm and thoughtful, always making sure you’re comfortable and happy. The sunrise right in front of the homestay was absolutely breathtaking. Even after staying for four nights, we still didn’t want to leave. I’d definitely come back to this little hidden paradise again.

Lovely and authentic family experience in Fiji with delicious meals and community vibes.

Vilise provided an excellent stay for our time on the island (4 nights), despite troubling weather which no one could have predicted. He was so gracious and generous, even as we had to leave a day early to ensure we made our outbound flight. The burre was minimal, but everything provided (bedding, mosquito nets etc) was clean and comfortable. What truly made the trip was his amazing cooking (should be charging double like the nearby resort for that quality!) which accommodated my vegetarian diet and getting to know and visit with his family. Dan his dad was super knowledgeable about the history of the islands, current political issues in Fiji, and provided great banter during the meals he shared with us. As we visited over Lent, and a number of youth in the community were finishing their cataclysm, the area was lively despite being in the midst of a tropical storm. If you love chill dogs and free roaming chickens (and some bold land crabs!), this is a great place to get some interaction with animals too! While we didn't get to see it in its full glory because of the weather, Vilise's hospitality made up for it 10-fold and we highly recommend choosing this homestay if you want a true family-style experience in Fiji.

Paradise

Everything was perfect. It is a nice accommodation in a quiet place. No crowds so a great place to relax. Food was amazing and so tasty. Portions were massive. The communication with owner was great, I was aware of everything before I arrived.

The perfect stay

If you have the possibility to book here, do so! It was one of the best stays we had in many years of travelling. You will stay at a breathaking beach you have nearly to yourself. The accomodation and the whole area was spotless clean and decorated with fresh flowers every morning. The host was super friendly, we felt very welcom and he cooked the most delicious meals. We now stay at a much more expensive resort and regret not having stayed longer at the voyager retreat homestay instead. Thanks for this great experience!

Book if you want to experience Fiji as a Fijian!

By far the best stay on our 1 month of travel so far! Clean and large room just 20m from the beach. Nice beach with amazing blue water and snorkeling right from your doorstep. The host was amazing and made us very tasteful local Fijian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It felt like eating at a very good restaurant 3 times per day, with freshly caught fish each morning! I generally eat a lot but never had to be worried for feeling hungry as portion sizes were always huge. One of us is vegetarian (but eats fish and egg), and this was no problem! Boat transfer costs extra but is well worth the spend, considering the stay is more than worth the money! We didn't drink the rainwater as we have sensitive stomachs, and brought most of our water (we were also able to buy some at the nearby resort and from the host).

Loved my stay with Dan!

I had a great time here with Dan (the father of the owner) we bonded over our families living in the same place back in the UK. Dan took great care of me and this homestay is all about the chill vibes. There is activities to do if you’d like. All the food is fresh and when Dan’s son arrived he is a great cook. I enjoyed all the food. It’s right on the beach and you can basically do what you want. There’s lots of dogs who love to hang out and local kids who I played with in the sea. I also chilled out on the hammock and drank a coconut on arrival! The transit from the Yasawa Flyer is $15 one way- everything went smoothly, they pick you up and take you straight to the boat. The room is massive so lots of space to chill and keep your stuff. The staff also provide anti mosquito stuff to burn in your room so no bites. I enjoyed my time here chatting to the staff and winding down.

Absolutely amazing adventure of a lifetime!

The Homestay accommodation is well put together , homely , comfortable. It was very beachy & gave us a real taste of island life! The food was incredible , we enjoyed every single meal , they were 10/10. The home made ice creams are a must try , they’re organic & very yummy! We did the island tour which was in-depth & personal & we managed to snorkel & was able to see lots of marine life. The host is so lovely & great at accommodating to your needs! We loved that there were flowers everywhere & the fact the beach is only a few steps away from the Homestay which is amazing! Overall we absolutely loved our stay & would highly recommend to anyone.

Beautiful place, friendly and helpful owner.

Beautiful location right at the beach, friendly owner, always ready to help. Everything is well kept and clean. Nice places to sit in the garden next to the beach. The room is spacious; there were mosquitos screens and an additional mosquito net for the bed. Dinner (25 FJD) was fresh and tasty. A good breakfast was included. It is served in a beautiful setting with seaview. The rain water for drinking worked fine with us. Easy, beautiful walk of about 30 minutes to the other side of the island (Blue Lagoon, ATM, shop...). Free snorkelling gear (which we didn't use).

A welcoming home set amongst the trees

We had a lovely time staying at Voyager, the hospitality was very warm. It's a beautiful, small village nestled amongst trees. It can be quite windy on the beach, but walk over the island to other sheltered spots with amazing fish life if this is the case. Voyager is home of the coconut ice cream which was a daily treat :) Vilise is an excellent cook and more than once I licked my plate clean. He easily catered for a vegetarian and a gluten free. Be conscious of your water use, it's limited and becoming less predictable with the changing climate patterns.
