Wonderful experience staying in secluded Japanese mountains. Great hosts, the house is beautiful, a classical Japanese house, with “modern” open living/dining area. The sound of the natural springs flowing through the mountains, and the crickets singing at night will put you into a deep sleep.

I spent a wonderful time thanks to the warm hospitality of the host family. The guesthouse is very cosy and clean. The location is nice and dinner and breakfast are yummy .

The owners were amazing. Nice, responsive, explained us everything, answered every question, before and during the stay. we really felt welcomed there. The house has a lot of atmosphere and everything is thought out there. We would stay longer if we could! The owner gave us a ride to and from the bus stop, which we appreciated a lot.

Our hosts were so kind and friendly. They met us at and delivered us to the nearby bus stop. We only stayed one night but both dinner and breakfast were lovely and the dining area/lounge has a nice feel to it. Theres a nice aesthetic about the entire property which is at Luli sh clean and modern. It’s a great place to stay in a very interesting region of Japan. We would gladly return and stay here again

“Amazing hospitality in the mountains”

The caring and friendly hospitality offered by Kato and his family was exceptional. Traditional Japanese food was served in a beautiful common room, and a kitchen was available for those who preferred to prepare their own meals. Very comfortable room and traditional tatami beds. A washing machine and good drying facilities were also available.

I just loved my 2 nights here. The whole place had a vibe that made it absolutely irresistible. The owners, Kota & Kanako, and their little one Taichiro, are just great. They’re accommodating, friendly, approachable, kind and gentle. They picked people up from the bus stop, gave me encouragements as I cycled through torrential rains, made plenty of suggestions for the local area and, frankly, worked their socks off for their hosts. While charging not that much. The building is beautiful. Is it perfect? No. If you’re taller than 1.80 and prone to be forgetful as I am you WILL bump your head into a beam. But it has charme aplenty, it’s cozy, it’s like your favourite jacket or pair of shoes. It FEELS nice. I could go on, but suffice to say I had an amazing stay, and I wish I could return. Hopefully one day I will.

Our stay at Guest House Takazuri-KITA was a highlight of our trip to Japan. The traditional house is beautifully preserved, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning nature — perfect for relaxing and experiencing the charm of Gokayama. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and the house itself was clean, spacious, and full of character. One of the best parts was renting electric bicycles directly from the property — super convenient and a great way to explore the area without hassle. Everything from the cozy tatami rooms to the quiet surroundings made our stay memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience rural Japan in comfort.

The accommodation is clean and comfortable. Kota & Kanako very friendly and responsive. It’s located at quiet place which you can totally relax and doing nothing just enjoy the social setting with cafe. Surrounded by nature landscape. Too bad we just stayed one night. It’s lovely place and we definitely will come back again!

Guest House Takazuri in Japan has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The hosts are very nice and speak English well. Although I was sick for half of my stay, the hosts were kind and made sure I was comfortable. The food at the guest house was amazing—delicious, homemade Japanese dishes that I really enjoyed. Even though I wasn’t feeling well, I could tell the hosts put great care into the food and their service. It’s a lovely place with great people, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

“Very pleasant stay”

Very nice guest house in a slightly remote and calm area, which was just what we were looking for. We rented an ebike for a small fee to explore the surroundings. Dinner and breakfast were great and the hosts were very friendly. We would book it again. Arigato Gozaimasu!
