My boys and family loves this place. Peaceful life here, cats&kittens that entertains my kids, super friendly host and good local breakfast made our night here memorable. Wish we could stay for couple of nights more to taste the life here.

“Incredible authentic stay in a beautiful village.”

Authentic Tulou inhabited by the Huang Clan. Ms Huang is such a kind and thoughtful host and helped me with directions, suggestions, a driver and even making tea.

It is a great authentic experience staying in actual tulou building as the key highlight. Owner Alice is helpful to help contact another accommodation in another place using local phone line and guided me to the bus stop to take the transit bus to the attractions. It is relaxing to have Chinese tea and some snack while chatting with her in the mini lobby. It makes it feel like a true connection with the locals. The breakfast provided makes the experience more enriching as we can eat inside d tulou.

“Lovely room in traditional house”

The staff was very helpful. The room is located in one of the traditional square (not round) homes. It was a nice surprise that heating was available inside the room. Breakfast was very good with a choice between Chinese and western food. It is located inside the visitors area, and it's easy to walk from the hotel to different traditional villages

“A place you’ll remember for the rest of your life, an extraordinary host, and remarkable heritage”

It’s the kind of place you remember for the rest of your life. This hotel, which I booked blindly at the very last minute, turned out to be a real tulou, located in an exceptional village in Futian, connected to other extraordinary heritage sites that can be reached on foot or by car. You are truly immersed in ancestral China, and it has an incredible charm. Our host Alice—whom everyone mentions on Booking when talking about this hotel—is incredibly welcoming and instantly connects with everyone. A shuttle/VTC service is available to get to and from the hotel, and the driver is also very friendly.

“Amazing stay with Alice and Jesse”

Alice and Jesse are amazing. Kind, helpful and their English is great! I additionally booked Jesse as a driver, a must to get around. Taxia is a cute village with some restaurants on walking distance. The hotel is comfortable and authentic.

Fantastic owner couple Alice and Jesse. Both speak English well and very helpful. Perfect place to stay for those who would like to experience a bit of Hakka Tulou life and don't speak Chinese. Highly recommend.

“Tulou-tastic!”

I loved the authenticity of the building. To stay in a Tulou was so exciting. Alice has made the rooms really comfortable with all mod cons, aircon, shower etc but outside the room it's as it would have been when it was lived in by working families. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the main part of the pretty village so an easy stroll for dinner. Alice was a wonderful host and Jesse (her husband) was our fabulous driver and guide.

“Great place and host in scenic area”

Alice is a lovely host. She was so helpful. I had friends come along in the end but she had no more rooms. She helped me find two rooms at a neighbor's place. She speaks English.

“Unforgettable Local Experience”

Alice is a very welcoming host. She offered her assistance from the very beginning, finding cheap comfortable transportation from Xiamen, giving guidance to understand the Tulous and get local delicious food. The room is clean and modern, everything a traveler would need and more. Thank you Alice, unforgettable experience and overall a must for everyone traveling Fujian. Ps: Be aware the area is Unesco Heritage and a fee for tourists is required (aprox. 15$).

Despite awful weather (constant rain due to a typhoon), our stay at Herongzhuang was very pleasant. The owner was always willing to help us arrange drivers, buy stuff we needed and provided plenty of tea to my sick friend. The entire area around the house is simply beautiful with lush green forests and tea gardens. I'd come back any time! The rooms were clean and tidy and there's a TV with English movies (we spent a lot of time indoors because of the heavy rainfall).

“Overall good experience”

It leaves up to its promises in experiencing staying in an old tulou (40yo). It is a pleasant surprise that the room is very modern and tastefully decorated. Jesse and Alice were easy to talk to, and even did favors for us in booking transportation. The tour was customized to our preference and Jesse acted as a guide in Tianloukeng, even giving us access to go up the highest floor of one of the Tulous. He also indulged our questions as we love history and culture (one of us is with ICOMOS, so info requested was bordering technical matters of conservation). Taxia as a place is pleasant and quaint, and staying for two nights was not a bad decision. Closest Restaurants are 15 minute walk (2 convenience stores are 50 meters away though), being able to visit some Tulous on the way. Their folks are also very friendly.

Amazing host, alice is such a sweet lady. She contacted us before arrival to see what time we would arrive and gave us an option to arrange a pick up from the train station.

“Unique stay experience with very friendly owner”

It was a great experience being able to stay in a Tulou. Despite being a tulou, the facilities and the room were very good. The tulou is located near Taxia village so we were able to walk with the owner to the village and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. The owner also kindly helped arrange car transport to and from Nanjing station as well as for the day so that we could visit numerous tulous such as Tianluokeng and Yongding. She also kindly took us around and explained the different historical backgrounds behind each of the tulous.

The owner can speak English very well and she can provide Taxi to pick up from the train station to the hotel. I got the memorable experience about Chinese breakfast and local fruits. I appreciate to stay in this homestay.
