“A calming paradise on a beautiful island”

The staff went above and beyond for us during our stay, they were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The free shuttle service to the beaches and nearby areas was a bonus also which was fantastic. The breakfast was amazing and even though we had to leave very early on the last day, we were given our breakfast to takeaway which was fantastic and very tasty!

The view from the pool, the size of the rooms, the feeling the hotel gave you made you feel very special. “Controversial situation...but for me it is a no, sorry 😢”

Probably one of the most controversial reviews I've ever had to write. While on the one hand, the place is honestly cared for down to the smallest details, with countless comforts, courteous and professional staff, and refined and detailed cuisine, all of this clashes with certain aspects that, when also connected to the international clientele, at least in my opinion, weigh on the final score. Our plan included three dinners, each objectively identical between the first and second courses, to the point that we had to request a menu change explicitly. This request was fortunately granted, but honestly, something you wouldn't expect from a place of this caliber. You'd expect something surprising, exciting, and overwhelming, and unfortunately, that wasn't the case, despite the undeniable quality and freshness of the products. Added to this is the fact that for every small change to the meal, or even a simple refill of a small cup of objectively delicious soup, we were told we'd have to pay... I think it was perhaps 100 ml of product. It was certainly expensive, and the price was justified, but given the overall cost of staying here, you wouldn't expect that—at least, I didn't. Another issue is the English language, which, despite the modern IT tools available, and despite the kindness of the staff, has proven to be a communication barrier, something you wouldn't expect from a place of this caliber. Another factor that, as a smoker, I honestly didn't like is what they call a smoking area (I should point out that I fully accept smoking in a designated area). In any case, it consists of a hovel outside the building, without even a bench or chair, nestled between a wall/window and a perforated brick wall spaced perhaps less than 50 cm apart, all hidden behind some plants.

The Grand is ideally located on the highest point in Kouri Island, Okinawa. The view of the East China Sea is simply amazing, and the sea breeze is 24/7. The breakfast at La Bombance, a Michelin-starred restaurant, is simply amazing. In short, this is the best hotel in Okinawa.

Incredibly attentive and friendly staff. The place is absolutely gorgeous. Breakfast was amazing, with the choice between European and Japanese breakfast. A nice amenity is the poolside “happy hour” with drinks (beer, prosecco and non-alcoholic) from 12 until 6 o’clock. I only wish my stay here had been longer.

“Truly unique and of finest quality”

Words can barely describe how exquisite our stay was. After traveling the Japanese mainland and Okinawa, we stayed for six consecutive nights with breakfast and dinner included as the final stop on our journey. The hotel’s location on the kouri-island, with surrounding views over the ocean truly is unique. From all we have seen on our travel, the Kouri-island was the truly best finish to our travel. Culinarily, the hotel’s “Bombance”-restaurant offers enriching experiences, with an amazing deep-dive into the Japanese kitchen. Noteworthy is the attention that the staff pays to one’s food-preferences as well as the fact that we also had two nights where Japanese specialty cooking was practiced. Breakfast is rich and diverse, with the choice between European and Japanese breakfast. The pool, spa and sports facilities are top-notch and quiet. A nice amenity is the poolside “happy hour” with drinks (beer, prosecco and non-alcoholic) “on the house” from 12 until 6 o’clock. The hotel is a center of tranquility and relaxation, where one must not care about anything. This would not have been possible without the excellent, friendly and thoughtful staff. On our day of departure even a breakfast-box was prepared as we couldn’t participate at normal breakfast. It sure is unique to have been to a hotel where literally everything was perfect.

“Amazing stay! The attention to detail is near to perfection!”

We have traveled a lot and stayed in many amazing places and hotels but this hotel is by far one of the best ones we stayed at. The location, the rooms; the pool, the restaurant and the super quality of the food, the little shop that sells wonderful treasures of the island; the amazing spa and treatments. All was so great! But what makes this place really really special is the staff and all the attention to details. We enjoyed our 4 days here and although it is quite remote it is 100% worth it! Thanks team for taking SO GOOD CARE OF US!

The location is amazing, the pool is breathtaking and the restaurant is good as well. I forgot a bag there and the staff really helped me to solve the issue by promptly shipping the bag to Tokyo

What a wonderful hotel. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful - it really felt like they went above and beyond. Both pool areas were lovely, the hot tub on our terrace was great for in the evenings and the views, just wow. We also did the chefs table omakase which was an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
